Strange definition of "popular consent" you have there, Phil... I was going to declare another 'Everything RULES' week and start the thread at midnight. Fear not, Ken! Between us, we too can form a "popular consent" and defy the laws of space and time! Martin

Day 2 of restricted diet in preparation for a CT Scan tomorrow morning. I'd kill for a curry right now!

10,000 Man Points lost today after completely bottling it about doing a thing about a thing before the last opportunity went. Balls. The Big Aim of The Year continues to elude me 7 months in. I may have to rethink it. Work was a bit flat too. In a foul mood now. -Ralph

I still function!
Well that was unpleasent. I had a CT scan on my stomach this morning, round 2 of the investigations begun with the colonoscopy a few months back. As indicated earlier the prep stuff was a lot nicer than previously, but the restricted diet has been a pain. Having CO2 pumped into my backside so they could get inflate my digestive system to get a better picture was not fun. At all. Back passages are built to pass air out of not get it in! Really didn't feel well afterwards but fortunately that passed within an hour or so leaving me on for a reunion with the chinese buffet in town to eat lots of red meat and chilli. Then after we got home the predicted effects of the prep stuff finally kicked in which makes me wonder if the images they got were OK and if I'm going to have to go through it all again !
Round 3 is next Monday an Endoscopy where they'll pass a camera down my throat.
This better be worth it and discover why I'm anaemic!

Owch. Doesn't sound like a pleasant process at all. Hopefully the results will be worth it.

Had my first official work shift at the surgery yesterday evening, everything seemed to go ok, but I'll find out if I missed anything on Thursday (I'm sure I did)

It is extremely hot in my house. Even with all the windows thrown open it is exceedingly warm. When I came back from work to a house that had been closed up all day the first thing that went through my mind was the old Mechwarrior 2 soundclip
"Heat Level Critical. Shutting Down."
At some point it has to cool down, doesn't it?

One of the benefits of the flat I currently rent is that it never gets that warm in here (I'm actually sitting here with a fleece on). Which is a pain in the Winter but fine in the Summer. Not that I've noticed much, with the generally wet and cold weather this Summer has mostly been so far.

An interesting time with travelling today. Thanks to a derailment yesterday the trains were a little way from normal this morning...... So my journey to work involved getting one train halfway to my destination, getting off there and realising that my chance of getting on the next two trains was pretty much absolutely zero, so off I went hunting for a rumoured rail replacement bus.... Which I managed to find and leap on just before it left to rattle along the road the rest of the way to Edinburgh. I still managed to arrive at work only half an hour late which was a bit of a relief.
Travelling home was a little smoother, just involving me folding myself up into box-mode to fit into a corner of the train vestibule.... Was nice to get out at Falkirk and stretch my legs.

Today has started very badly indeed. I have the backside of doom *again*. It obviously doesn't like being mucked with by drugs or air tubes. It turns out that the Cyberverse VS packs I bought in Tescos yesterday had already been found for me by our US Agent. Anyone want a set of VS packs in US packaging? The bank has placed another fraud stop on my account. Just as HLJ try and charge it for a Generations book. Again. See here for the sorry tale of what happened to Generations volume 1. NOT HAPPY.

Mental week at work so far. Off today, but in tomorrow - boo. Some minor issues with BB meant I have been offline for a few days for the most part. But the time has been put to use elsewhere.

Another tango ultra day at work. Went to see Captain America and enjoyed it. Had to call time early on pubbing due to fatigue hitting me like a rock. Early night ahead, methinks!

I've been re-reading Simon Hughes' book about his cricket career. In it he describes getting financial success at his benefit dinner 20 years ago by getting his sister to sell the raffle tickets in a low cut dress. Given that his sister is tmuk forum favourite Bettany Hughes I'm not surprised....
