However I did manage to catch a screening after work this evening having kept the internet off all day to avoid spoilers! So it worked out ok in the end.
Burns is not one to get teary during a film but that broke me!

{Spoiler}I lost the plot several times. It was a slightly mixed up plot at a couple of points. Very amused by the it doesn't work like in Back to the Future! stuff but we'll do a BttF anyway. 🙂 Loki. What happened to Loki??

Can I talk about it if I do spoiler tags? Need to write stuff somewhere!!! Yes. Phew thanks. No-one locally has seen it. {Spoiler}They really had their cake and ate it too covering so many aspects of the MCU. Got pulled out a little by the director's cameo in the focus group. Glad Carol wasn't just used as a 'solve all' to the plot. Also quite a different take that although they saved the day the time had still passed, no cosmic reset. We still get Mini Toni, grown up Stature. But Peter and co go back to school and they are the same age. I think there was quite a bit of hand waving when it came to the plot. But that's fine really. I loved watching and was swept along. Prof Hulk was a winner. What is next? Spider-man world tour. Another Black Panther, GotG 3 eventually. There was talk of a Black Widow solo too…

Spoiler Also, that Falcon/Winter Soldier TV show just got a lot more interesting. Spoiler Yes indeed. They get to play with the Cap legacy without having to tie a tentpole movie to those two characters, which may not have flown. Too complicated a concept to sell in two hours.

Had a Marvel binge in London this week after a few drinks out with James W & co. on the Tuesday. Saw Tom Hiddleston (Loki) in 'Betrayal' at the Pinter Theatre on Wednesday night www.pinteratthepinter.com/the-plays/betrayal. Then saw Avengers: Endgame yesterday morning in a recliner seat at Vue Leicester Square, and last night saw Hayley Atwell (Agent Carter) in 'Rosmersholm' at the Duke of York rosmersholmplay.com/. Tom Burke (Athos in 'The Musketeers') was also in that one. Loved how the Endgame trailers made you think the main story was what actually turned out to just be the first half hour. So much for trailers always spoiling the film! Martin

They... did not treat Thor kindly. He was such a figure of fun in this film, that he was the one character who you knew would not die. Because you have to treat a popular character with a modicum of respect before you kill them off. Martin

{Spoiler}While I think he was a figure of fun, I don't think it was disrespect. You saw Thor in Infinity War absolutely not deal with what happened at the start of the film and suppress it.
Couple that with the hope they could fix it and then taken away cruelly when Thanos reveals he destroyed the gems. He had a bit of a breakdown and was wallowing in self-pity.
He got the kick up the arse he needed when he met his mother again and she set him straight. While there were a few moments after that where he was getting a few barbs thrown his way, his build aside he was back to where he was post Ragnarok/pre Infinity War.

I dunno... I think folk who wanted Thor to redeem himself and play a major heroic role in the final events are going to feel short-changed, the way he was put in the shadow of both Captains. And where's his loyalty to his beloved hammer gone? Yeah, Stormbreaker may be bigger than Mjolnir, but still... The Avengers seem to have outgrown him, so I suppose he had to end up with the Guardians as they're the only group he can impress now.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, as I like MCU Thor primarily for the comedy value he provides, but I'm sure there are fans who want something more from him. I'm happy, because Stark is the character I've been most attached to throughout, and what they did with him was just perfect. His eight-movie story arc just looks so well crafted now.
"Hail Hydra" was a lovely moment.
So... are all the people who turned to dust now 5 years younger than they should be? I mean, is Peter Parker's class at school now made up half of people who were 5 years behind them, while the half his class who didn't turn to dust are now grown-up?
Did anyone else get a Babylon 5 vibe from the "On your left" scene? I was just waiting for someone to say "Multiple jump points forming."
Martin

{Spoiler}I'm a big Thor fan and I've no real problems with how he did. He still got his heroic moments at the end. I'm glad he didn't go back to Mjolnir - it would be a step backwards for him. Remember the hammer was simply a focal point for him to wield his power. He's not the god of hammers after all.
I like the fact he let it go, symbolic of letting his past regrets go. While I would say yes he was definitely overshadowed by Cap, I don't think he was eclipsed by Captain Marvel, while she got a bit of nice moment against Thanos - he had similar in the last film.
I'd always thought Tony wouldn't see the end of this, possibly Cap too. Glad he got his happy ending and his dance with Peg.
Guardians are in an interesting place for 3 and obviously they will be hunting Gamora, wonder if she ends up with Adam Warlock as opposed to Quill.
Yes, Peter's class will be a mix of old disappeared and people who will be the same. Will make for an interesting set up.
