A thought that's been bugging me since last night: where would Section 31 be if the had The Answer?

Was very much hoping to make it to a friend's funeral today here in Swindon, but since I'm having difficulty walking across the room I've decided it's probably best I don't go. Really don't want to be causing a fuss at an event like that.
I probably would have gone if it had been a "home game", and especially if I'd been projecting when I'm tucked away out of the congregation, but it's at a church the other side of the motorway and I'd be relying on others to transport and look after me.

This afternoon I drove along the excitingly named Snake Pass towards Glossop and coming over the peaks I suddenly saw the whole of Manchester laid out before me in the distance. Somewhere down there, I thought, the Doctor is getting annoyed with a train and FortMax is stroking a stick insect.

Looks like a lovely area. From the top of the hill behind it anyway.
Everything round here feels much closer together than I thought it was. Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield - being down south these are just names of places that exist somewhere north of London and south of Newcastle, but driving around a bit up here I see how close together they are.

Major worries here as something which should have been easy has suddenly become potentially insurmountable. I feel 100.

Today Pinwig will brave the rain and flood warnings to go on another Doctor Who location hunt! Pictures later, if I do not drown.

Five separate texts/emails sent to people this morning who I've left it too long between contacting. Apologies to all. I get to the end of the day and think **** I've not contacted X, Y & Z *again* ..... and then the next day comes up and I get distracted......

I have returned, although joking aside there was some pretty scary weather going on atop the Peaks today. Half the journey there I couldn't see the road because the fog was so thick, coming back there was rain of biblical proportions. However, at the destination the weather was fine. Really pleased to have been to Jodrell Bank in the flesh; the Lovell Telescope is truly awe inspiring. Hope the picture works; flickr is being a pain and won't let me log in so I've resorted to experimenting with Onedrive instead.

Had a bit of a moment when I looked up and realised I could see *that* walkway. Even if the actual one was in a TV studio.

WHAT.
No Dezzeh, that was the Arecibo telescope in Puerto Rico. We are talking Doctor Who. This is the telescope Tom Baker fell off just before he turned into Peter Davison.

The clue was in the post two further up where I said I was going on a Doctor Who location hunt...
Having a moment over Brian Cox?! What am I, a middle aged housewife? I've met him anyway!

I... I know what you mean there, Doc'. I like him, his generic programmes, like Wonders of the Universe don't teach me much I don't already know, and I often find him wishy-washy and gratuitous in how he explains things. Like, he'll walk around in Antarctica for half an hour of screen time just to explain that Europa's surface is made of ice. But I appreciate his enthusiasm, and he's reaching out to the masses. Making space cool to the masses.

Yes. I'm sure I mentioned that on here as it wasn't that long ago. The school I used to work at won a competition for him to come and give a lecture that was broadcast live on the internet as part of some national science event. I was in charge of the group of kids picked to work with him.

Brian Cox's presentation style annoys me intensely. -Ralph I think his programmes started well, but have gone a bit awry because of his popularity. Too dumbed down. Of his output, I most enjoy the Infinite Monkey Cage science show he does with Robin Ince on Radio 4.

I was in charge of the group of kids picked to work with him. Did you shake his hand? Did you examine his hair close-up? Did you hug him a thank you? Did you smoke together? Did you eat with him, share a meal? Did you go to the swimming baths together, and laugh and joke over a light-hearted game of water-polo then shower together afterwards?
