I have canned curry in the cupboard! A strange place to eat. I generally have my dinner sitting comfortably in the living room in front of the telly. Still, each to his own. Martin

On the train home from Bristol. Approaching half way point of Brum. Time to deploy the home made cake.

Another unpleasant encounter with the drug using trespassers on communal area when coming home yet again this evening. I hate living here. I am literally counting the days until I can leave. I can get absolutely no joy out of living in the area with this happening most days. Given up on calling the Police. Waste of time. They don't give a shit.

Been to the gym 4 times this week in a vain effort to stave off early death. I don’t know how people do it to themselves

I was miffed a while back when I got the cassette deck component of my stereo out of the loft only to find the tape draw wouldn't close properly. It's been up there since but came down last week during my ongoing sorting of everything. I was going to dump it thinking it not worth trying to get repaired, despite the fact a cassette deck would still be vaguely useful to have for converting old spoken word stuff. I googled the problem today and found it's a common fault over time in that particular unit because the belt that connects the gears to operate the eject mechanism perishes. I opened it up and had a look and indeed, if I pressed on the tape tray it clicked into place and I could see the belt was slack.
No hope of getting a replacement because the unit is so old, but I saw mentioned that just using an elastic band does the job. Fortunately I had one the right width and length to hand, and hey presto, it now works absolutely fine. This means I can have another go at trying to transfer the Special Teams audio cassette, the one in the batch of TF tape conversions I did that went all wobbly. If I respool the tape it might take some of the tension out of it. If not, I'll try and find another.

Well I'm certainly ready for the big audio cassette revival. That is coming, right? We've done vinyl, gonna be tapes next.
Yeah. I'm sure. Any time now. Tapes.
Definitely.
Coming right up.

The cassette revival has been ongoing for several years now. Some small companies produce tapes for small bands with download codes inside so fans can buy something tangible. Tapes also remain popular in parts of the developing world.

See, bleeding edge, me. I'm right there at the forefront of technology. I know this because my tape deck has a DOLBY NR button. Oh yes.

The only cassettes I have to hand are all the TF Ladybird ones. Once I've got this hooked back up to the CD receiver section downstairs I shall introduce Mrs P to Laserbeak's Fury. WHAT A SUNDAY.
