Hopes: Some love being thrown to non-g1 more significant than repaints like Gen Select Hotshot.
And I don't mean just a single nifty one off like the as of yet announced Armada Prime.
My hope is that Hasbro remembers that Generations is a pan-generational line. Not exclusively dedicated to G1 Redux/G1 Sunbow.
Predictions: Needlenose will turn up in the next fan poll. A new Quake will happen.
Voyager Rodimus Prime will be a thing.
Their commitment to Earth and "earth modes" will be as dubious as their commitment to the MTMTE pilot and "cybertronian modes" was in Siege.

They complete the Siege Cassettes and give us Frenzy and Buzzsaw in a non-wanky non-exclusive non-f**k us up the chuff TIMELY way. TIMELY way.
They end or reduce the endless churning out of the same old same old, mix it up, do something DIFFERENT.

They did Soundblaster in Siege (WalMart exclusive) and I don't think they'll do another without doing Earth mode Soundwave first. And I don't know if Soundwave IS coming again. Yep, that's pretty much going to be it, isn't it? Gotta love those dividends! Still, on the plus side my main hope is that nothing too exciting is revealed and released this year, 'cos I'm going to be having additional expenses come the middle of the year. So a quiet couple of years collecting wise is going to be good for me. Although there is Scorponok... so my hope is that he's delayed as much as Omega Supreme was. |

UK distribution will hit the wall again other than 1-steps and Bot Bots. Deluxes, Voyagers and the like will not return to supermarket shelves.
The Siege Netflix cartoon will finally come out and will be rubbish.

Hopes:
More than one new/media crossover character at a deluxe or above in general retail release over the course of the year.
Predictions:
Retreads will continue to be the majority of everything except Rescue Bots:Academy (if that is still running).
Netflix cartoon will come out and will be rather "meh". Writing will be subpar and it probably won't look much better than their Ultraman animated show at best either.
Resolutions:
Pick myself up a Rack'and'ruin, and reacquire a Roadbuster and Whirl of some description to reunite a set of the original six wreckers.
Work my collection back down again - the stored elements have overflowed beyond the one large box level again so need to be reduced.
Replace some of what I offload with Energon and Galaxy Force stuff. In retrospect I'd say that Unicron Trilogy was the last time I unresevedly enjoyed the Transformers toylines, and there are some fun toys in there that I rather miss. (Energon Jetfire for example, lovely toy).

-Leader Grimlock, head taller than voyagers. Three new struthiomimus battlemasters to pack it out, each one with a different weapon mode.
-Leader Scorn, heavy Grimlock retool, modern spinosaur
-Leader Strife, modern Quetzalcoatlus, AoE Strafe nod
-Voyager Slug
-Voyager Snarl (gemme good plates and tail!)
-Voyager Swoop (deluxe robot, gemme good wings!)
-Deluxe Slam, Ankylosaur, dinobot slapper nod
-Weaponizer/Modular Slash. Alt mode is a pack of dromaeosaurs that combine into one robot.

Yeah, and there's no way that under the current Hasbro leadership that if they were to do Dinobots that they wouldn't be so Sunbow accurate that it would hurt. Any Generations Grimlock we'll get in the foreseeable future will be the Godzilla-stance Grimlock, and not a current-scientific-understanding Grimlock...

I am in the minority, but I deeply dislike the IDW (and DW) Dinobot designs especially when Grimlock has teeth in his cheeks in robot mode. Bug eyed Swoop is ******** horrendous. I'm sorry, but any dinosaur that looks like this past the date of 2000:  Will always be inexcusable and unacceptable. It is not too much to ask that a stegosaur actually looks like a stegosaur, and a tyrannosaur actually has the features that makes a tyrannosaur a tyrannosaur. This is not a radical change to Snarl's design:  It means your robot dinosaur is mimicing an actual creature. It means not only does it not have a broken back, it also actually has an impressive set of plates and spikes. Not only does it look cool, it looks dangerous. The incorrect dinobots are full of sad. |
