And can you imagine being a kid and getting Prime vs Megatron only to find Prime is missing two of his three components!! VSX has everything in it the Japanese retail release had, including the trailer/combat deck and roller. See www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=1713 but ....

Aha. Good packaging. I retract my objection.
Soundwave's belt clip still edges it though.

Including an audiocassette in the packaging sells Grimlock v Soundwave for me! Even if it's just someone talking in Japanese? I was mulling over the Sunstreaker/Skids/Buzzsaw scenario, and I reckon it's a fight that probably could never have taken place in the Marvel comic universe. Sunstreaker was torn apart by Shockwave before Skids made his first appearance. Then Buzzsaw was destroyed by Omega Supreme and Skids got sent off to Limbo. Buzzsaw and Sunstreaker eventually returned, but by the time Skids returned from Limbo and got rid of his monsters, Buzzsaw had been killed by Starscream in the Underbase story and that was the end of him. Buzzsaw could probably beat Skids without too much trouble, but Sunstreaker would cause him difficulties due to the long-range anti-aircraft firepower that he packs. If Buzzsaw could get close enough to use his beak, then it would all be over, but how would he get in close without being shot down? The only thought I had was that maybe he could explode a couple of mortar shells to distract the Autobots and then use his size-changing ability to shrink down and free-fall, pretending to be a piece of debris, and then expand to full size again when he was right in Sunstreaker's face. It might work! Martin

Ah but the tape could be a proper audio play with sound effects and weird voices! The German story tapes sound amazing.

That's suckmyballs awesome. It's what The Transformers is all about! Good against Evil! Truck and Trailer with scout car against, errr, handgun... IT JUST LOOKS SO AWESOME!!!!Sadly, no Grimwave brothers this time... I must vote for- OPTIMUS PRIME VS MEGATRON- THE ULTIMATE BATTLE.

The layout of the Prime Megatron is fantastic, you wouldnt thin that much could be squeezed in to the box. But the lack of cannon and silencer and stock hurts Megatron. Also is that Megatron more grey than the wetsern release?
Prime Megs still probably wins though.

Also is that Megatron more grey than the wetsern release? All Japanese Transformers Megatrons prior to 16-S had no chrome.

OPTIMUS PRIME VS MEGATRON- THE ULTIMATE BATTLE. Megatron with no fusion cannon (or other gun bits) but instead A SWORD THAT'S AS BIG AS HE IS (almost). I'm imagining the battle on the dam where instead of switching his hand for an energy axe, he pulls out this sword instead, tries to lift it, overbalances and falls off the dam. Martin

Isn't Prime the Axe? Megatron's the flail (described by TFWiki as a mace)

Aha. Good packaging. I retract my objection. Wow. Yeah. Very much puts Hasbro's current efforts to shame. At this stage we've been trained to expect there being mostly just empty space in these boxes...

Oh gosh doesn't Megatron have at leadt his cannon?! Oh dear. Shame they could squeeze it and his stock in there somehow. It's still a great set though!

Nope. As we discussed last week, at tmukhub.proboards.com/post/326315/thread, the first two Japanese Transformers Megatrons (Japanese #16 and VSX) have no cannons/scope, no silencer, no stock, or the points to attach the stock & scope. In addition chromed plastic is grey and red plastic is blue. He can fire little blue bullets and has the sword though. tfwiki.net/wiki/Megatron_(G1)/toys#VSXThe Goodbye Megatron set adds the scope/cannon, it's mounting point, and changes the blue inner arms, legs & bullets to the US red. tfwiki.net/wiki/Megatron_(G1)/toys#GoodByeFor the chrome, silencer, stock and it's attachment point you had to wait until the early 2000s 16-S re-release in Japan tfwiki.net/wiki/Megatron_(G1)/toys#2001reissue

Good old CH02, don't know that, Ralph? I think of CH02 every day when I wake up and I take two before bed as it stops scurvy
CH02 was part of GINFRGHZXC which as we all know was superior to FJITDGHP
(I have no idea either)
