Interesting. I wonder where they unearthed those.

Other than Stephen Fry doing his usual bad acting, that looks promising.

Really hard to get the tone of a series from a trailer but they're really going for madcap comedy with that. It doesn't look much like Doctor Who to me, but I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

A few years ago I acquired a copy of the DWAS Production File, an excellent document that, amongst other things, lists all the extras used on each story. As soon as I got it it superseded IMDB as my source for who'd been in Who when. IMDB had been winding me up on that front for a while.
When I read Sunday's blog entry going up, and in particular the comment about Jean Channon being the only passenger listed on IMDB, it finally pushed me over the edge into updating all the remaining Tom Blog entries that had been written before it. Lots more little gripey comments about IMDB were discovered - at the time of writing IMDB didn't list a single Skonnan Elder or Graham Cole's first DW appearance - and whole sections of cast identified. The same faces keep rolling round so each story enabled me to reuse more entries.
The problem now is tracing whereabouts in the Pertwee era I started using it.... Those first few stories in s7 have HUGE guest casts, most of whom weren't the same people regularly appearing in late S17/S18. Some work still ahead of me, especially considering it's 4 weeks till Spearhead from Space's 50th.

Some work still ahead of me, especially considering it's 4 weeks till Spearhead from Space's 50th. Spearhead from Space: Research done, new blog entries for each extra written. Now need to work them in to the main articles. Cast lists for Silurians and Inferno worked on: both stories have multiple actors playing more than one role, especially Inferno where it's useful to know who's a technician in both realities and who isn't. Doing the same to Ambassadors is probably going to be a worthwhile exercise. I'll start by populating Silurians cast list with the blog entries from Spearhead: there's a lot of actors in both, and may cut those down to last in/next in to save space as there's LOADS of extras in Silurians rather than giving full credits.

Spearhead from Space completely updated, pleased with that. All came together really well in the end.
Silurians half way through the actor entries. During today I've written one for the first man to appear on screen and the man who casts the shadow at the end of the first episode.

Does Lisa Bowerman have a picture in the attic/sea devil in the cellar? Silurians: Nearly there, just the Plague Victims to go. Got some really nice stuff on the coming and goings of the technicians.

I have been trying to explain the Dalek's plan with the Bedfordshire mines in THE DALEK INVASION OF EARTH to a civillian. Apparently there are logical flaws to the Dalek's mine operations no matter how much I try to explain it.

That's what I said!!! Bombard the planet with asteroids, robotise the population, mine out the Earth's core to turn it into a giant spaceship. Foolproof.

The Plague Victims in Silurians 6 nearly killed me. Then the first pass at Ambassadors of Death nearly did the same. Had a complete day without looking at it yesterday to get my head straight and have bagged the first two episodes today

Ambassadors of Death - TICK I just had episode 7 to go today. For Reasons it got very complicated...... And then I found Movie Dude's Ambassadors of Death page - movie-dude.co.uk/[TV]%20%27Doctor%20Who%207.3%20Ambassadors%20of%20Death%27%20(1970).htm - and together with some very fortunate spare screen caps the episode was transformed, the new version is blinding and you can now see what the Time Monster's Kronos looks like without it's mask and the face of the man who fathered the twins in Twin Dilemna Inferno now. Roughly just over half the extras involved I had on file. Unfortunately MANY of the technicians are unlisted against the episodes so they'll need to be some hunting tomorrow.

So....
who do we think the first black actress in Doctor Who is? There's a lady called Corrine Skinner playing a technician in Inferno who I think might have that accolade.
Her placement in the technicians is interesting - alongside black actors Robert Birmingham & Bertie Green. They disappear when the action switches to Naziworld and (in the case of Skinner & Birmingham) pop up again in the real world in episode 7, alongside another black technician Alistair Baine. It's a really subtle commentary on the world of the Brigade Leader that's only there if you know to look for it.
