I have discovered loads of the old Star Trek soundtrack albums I used to have (some on tape) on the Amazon Prime streaming music thingy. Instant nostalgia. Now I can hear the Amok Time fight music at will! My tape of that (Star Trek soundtrack vol 2) is long since lost to time.

The 'skip titles' option is the worst thing to happen in TV in recent years. It's bad enough I have to scramble to stop streaming services automatically skipping end titles!

I can not watch Cheers without the theme tune. Friends, Red Dwarf, Magnum P.I. etc. Then run times on network TV got so short they started cutting theme music and HBO and Netfilx etc seem to be so busy being prestigous they dont know what a good theme song is. There must be a few since, but I cant think of a really good theme tune since Gilmore Girls and The OC where on the air. Game of thrones maybe.

I'm pretty much all for the modern straight to title card approach (Siren, Arrow, Young Sheldon). But if you're gonna do the full opening, it needs to be memorable. I never watch Hillstreet Blues, but I can hum the theme. It's been decades since I saw Night Court, but I have the music stuck in my head right now. I honestly think Ghostbusters would not be the thing it is today without it's iconic theme song.
Also, how did they change Enterprise's opening? I just finished a watch through earlier this year it had the same song all the way through? I remember there was a big shitstorm from the fandom at the time that they used a song instead of more of the same trek music, but i'm glad they stuck to their guns.

At least with skip intro you have to take action to do it, but it's wrong that you have to take action to prevent it at the end. Even more elaborate action too, 3-4 button presses.

I had completely forgotten how good season 3 of Enterprise was. Actions have consequences and theres no reset button at the end of each episode.
I can only imagine how good Voyager would have been if they had gone this route (and hired Manny Coto).

I'm with Ralph on this, I don't skip titles on any of the Trek shows, there's something about them that helps set the tone for me. Same with Brooklyn 99.
The Marvel shows however I mostly skip the titles, with the exception of Daredevil which I again find fits the tone of the show well (the titles and music of the other shows are perfectly fine, but don't feel quite so necessary).
One of the weird things about Netflix though is how now that it's free from the constraints of US broadcast TV you sometimes get the opening titles 10-15 minutes in. I haven't got used to that.

Many US broadcast shows go a long time before they go to the title card/opening, now, too. The DC shows sometimes take ten minutes to get to it.

Oh my god. How much did the writers on Enterprise hate Trip? The list of horrors hes put through is far worse than any other character in Trek and then they dont even give him a happy ending. Between that and the TNG take over theres no wonder I hate the last episode so much. Hes the Bean Bunny of Trek Speaking of the take over. Its just disrespectful towards Enterprise. I get the point, its not just Enterprise thats ending, its the run that started with TNG but is done so cack handedly, I don't know if it was because they still had the D set and didn't have the E set or whether it was just out of a sense of nostalgia, but its just weird. Oh no you did not just make them say "heres to the next generation" Fuck off. And it leaves almost no time for Enterprise to tell its final story, extra annoying because unlike TNG and Voyager its trying to tell a final story. Gah! and even then, its not their story, Riker is interacting with a simulation meaning almost every scene hes in is altered or faked. And that writers cameo which I never noticed before. thats annoying me now Going back to Trip.
Spoiler As for how he died. Jeez, in to the chamber he goes and fade to black. Eveything is annoying me.
