The Romulan War books are decent though hobbled at being truncated by editorial decree very late in the day.
Rise of the Federation...is not good.

Oh my god. How much did the writers on Enterprise hate Trip? The list of horrors hes put through is far worse than any other character in Trek and then they dont even give him a happy ending. Between that and the TNG take over theres no wonder I hate the last episode so much. Hes the Bean Bunny of Trek Speaking of the take over. Its just disrespectful towards Enterprise. I get the point, its not just Enterprise thats ending, its the run that started with TNG but is done so cack handedly, I don't know if it was because they still had the D set and didn't have the E set or whether it was just out of a sense of nostalgia, but its just weird. Oh no you did not just make them say "heres to the next generation" Fuck off. And it leaves almost no time for Enterprise to tell its final story, extra annoying because unlike TNG and Voyager its trying to tell a final story. Gah! and even then, its not their story, Riker is interacting with a simulation meaning almost every scene hes in is altered or faked. And that writers cameo which I never noticed before. thats annoying me now Going back to Trip.
Spoiler As for how he died. Jeez, in to the chamber he goes and fade to black. Eveything is annoying me. They rebuilt the TNG sets used, and weren't even able to do them accurately. They use the Observation Lounge, but it didn't have the Wall of Enterprises sculpture, that had probably been destroyed, sold, or stolen. I think it was done to allow them to both have the finality of a definitive ending, and be open ended to continue several more seasons. As I don't think they knew for certain this was the end of the road until they were actually making it.

If it helps, the novels retconned the last episode into oblivion. -Ralph ORDERRRR! OOOORRRR-DUH. The gentleman from Edinburgh has been warned about this type of evidence before. It is not acceptable In. This. House.

Enterprise was cancelled during production of the Mirror Universe episodes so producers knew the show was dead. The finale was cobbled together at short notice and was intended to also serve as a finale to 18 years of Trek on telly, hence the TNG tie-in. Berman has stated on the record many times since that it seemed a good idea at the time but didn't work and regret it.
Just one of those things really.

I stand corrected.
Though in my defense, I never pay attention to Berman.

Star Trek On Ice.
Apparently this one lone video is the only recording, and almost the only proof this was a thing.
I started the video thinking there's no way it's official, and ended it realizing there's no way it isn't, because there's no way a fan production could take itself this seriously.

For the second time this week as part of my TNG rewatch I've looked up a guest character actor and found out he died recently This time it's The Schizoid Man and W. Morgan Sheppard, also of Star Trek VI, Babylon 5, Doctor Who and the 2007 Transformers movie among many other things.

He was so good in Doctor Who. I didn't realise till his death that he was Mark Sheppards Dad.

Aye, thanks! Not good with names (or faces), but I'd heard a while back that he died. Was just trying to make sure this was him, or another DW/ST actor, and I wasn't getting them confused. (How bad I can be- I am just about in love with Gemma Chan, but couldn't for the life of me place her when I watched Crazy Rich Asians last night)
But yeah. I was sad with Mr Sheppard's passing when I heard. I really liked him.
