Yes the TNG set was £42 for all 178 episodes in HD (other than about 2 mins of it). A bargain. I remember getting the CIC VHS tapes. 2 episodes for £10.99! Yes the films set was seperate and the comic called to me. I thought £40 was a bit steep but knocked down to £32 I thought was ok. The 'movie' versions of BOTB and Chain of Command are also chucked in. -Ralph I'll stick with Netflix. 10 mins and counting of unskippable &@&@^@^ ads so far and not even at the disc menu. My player does not seem to be able to bypass them. -Ralph

Lower Decks.
Id completely forgotten how much I enjoyed this one.
But I cant help feeling bad for some of the reoccuring extras on the show that werent selected for this episode. Nurse Ogawa was at his point the most well developed background character, but theres an officer who has appeared regularly since Wesley Crusher left who must have been disappointed no to be involved.

The weird thing is that DS9, which was a revolving door set up, had the most reoccurring moderately well developed characters of all the treks. The show that you could basically easily write someone off after one appearance.
TNG, which focused on a ship full of a thousand people, seldom ever used reoccurring characters (O'Brian, Guinan, Keiko, Barclay, Ro, and Ogawa were the few who made it). Which is really sad because they introduced some really awesome characters who only showed up for an episode or two. (The ensign who spilt her coffee on Picard, the ensign who flirted with Wes in "The Game")
Voyager, a ship in a bottle with only 130 or so people absolutely needed a closed group of extras. There were more reoccurring holodeck characters than there were reoccurring voyager crew. Samantha Wildman was so absent, half the fandom mistakenly believe she died and had left Naomi to Neelix or Seven. Seven years in on that small a ship, with no one being able to leave or join, there shouldn't be a face in the mess hall we can't identify.
God Voyager drives me crazy at how close it was to being the best trek of them all.

Ensign Gates! She appeared in 46 episodes (so only 4 less than O'Brien) including Lower Decks but never even got a first name and bizzarely seems to have had all her "aye, Sirs" dubbed by an unknown actress. Im not sure she had any other lines. That might explain why her role wasnt expanded though. Memory Alpha is a bit scary when you find youself on the bio pages of all the unnamed and uncredited extras. My favourite though is John Copage. He did one episode of TOS then became as reoccuring unnamed character on TNG through season 5-7. The character (because its apparently the same guy) transferred to the USS Voyager. He didnt appear after season 4. I hope he was just keeping a low profile and made it back to earth and enjoyed a long retirement.

Watched Generations for the first time in years. It has not aged well. It doesn't help that the sound mastering on the Blu Ray is crap. Music IS VERY LOUD. Dialogue/effects very muted. Had to keep adjusting the volume. Not sure it's the telly. Every other disc sounds fine.

What has aged particularly badly?

Though, to be honest, First Contact is the only TNG film which was really good and has aged well

Generations was bloody good.
First Contact is nearly perfect.

I think why the TOS movies did better than the TNG movies, is because there was an overarching narrative between them. TMP and VI are the only ones that are truly stand alones. Those movies felt like an additional season, while the TNG movies just felt like big episodes.
Discovery and the TOS movies have more in common with each other, than they do with any other trek.

Im not sure she even gets a line, but is referred to by name so now Im confused as to how or why she appeared.

IIRC the original Disco production designer took inspiration from the bridge interiors from Trek VI. -Ralph

The TOS films are also helped by being made and set much letter on from the show so the characters are allowed to age etc so feel more special/distinctive. This is the feel I am hoping to get from 'Picard'. -Ralph
