I was not a fan of the Galaxy Force Convoy that I had. The Hang-glider part looked rather unwieldy on his humanoid mode, and the inability to hinge the guns around it in anyway which didn't look dreadfully cumbersome was disappointing. The FireCannonTruckPartsfoldedup vehicle mode was also hugely disappointing.
Without the Hangglider the humanoid mode looked ok. But it was one of the first things to be Reaved during the first space-crunch.
I think I was more disappointed by that than I was by the Robotech Masterpiece thing I bought the from FP:G along with it.

The backpack never bothered me! I think the truck mode is more of a problem, not sure if it's a fire engine or a truck. Yes the hands could have held 5mm weapons, but Wing Sabre fixes that, and yes the arm gimmick is underused, but that's Hasbro's fault not Optimus'.
Truck mode: When was the next time they did a full Optimus with trailer and not just the cab after this toy?

GF isn't a follow on to Armada so why do the Mini-cons have the Armada Minicon logo on them.

For the same reason that the Autobots and Decepticons have the Autobot and Decepticon insignias from G1 even though it's not a continuation of G1, I'd imagine.

Cybertron/Galaxy Force IS a follow on to Armada/Micron Legend, it's just that Energon/Superlink is in between. Not so! Cybetron was a continuation of Energon HOWEVER Galaxy Force was NOT a continuation of Superlink despite that being the original plan, as Takara just did their own thing and ignored Hasbro, that's why it doesnt really match up as well as it should and why they had to reedit lots for the US broadcast.

As a Toyline it's blindingly obvious it's MEANT to be a sequel. Red Alert's use in both for a start.
My mind had blanked the stuff about GF (Cartoon) not being a Micron Legend (Cartoon) sequel.

Did the Japan release minicon toys have much different paint jobs than the Hasbro release. Apart from looking far better.

The GF release was a year before Cybertron so they were first, but for most of the ones common to both GF and Cybertron the differences are minimal, with two exceptions.
Japan got 2 teams, the street speed remoulds and the recon team. Japanese Jolt's initial release has a different face but I can't remember when it got changed and if the change was carried over to the west.
Japan only got the Vestor Prime and Metroplex packins. Roots/Safeguard is different in Japan but so is Vector Prime.
They didn't get the recon repaints, the giant planet team, the two packs or the other two giant planet packins.
They did get a whole bunch of other promotional Minicons and a couple more series of Micron Booster which included the Minicons that go with the remoulded Armada toys.

Didn't the whole Galaxy force stuff come last minute after they had done all the toys? It was a big mess - maybe the whole arc would not of been such a mess if they had not changed it.

As much as I love GF Convoy, it's telling that they can make THS01 pretty much bang on despite being 1/15th the size.

ep8 of the cartoon where we see the space bridge folding out - feels like RID spacebridge. & Prime being a firetruck.

It occured to me that even though he was one of the central most characters of Cybertron, Hasbro never released a proper Cybertron Starscream toy.
He got a ridiculously massive out of scale supreme toy that was priced out of most kids range. He got a very limited and very hard to find store exclusive that was in the wrong colors, and bundled with a superfluous identical to normal Hasbro Vector Prime. And he got a tiny legend that also was uber hard to find being outside of traditional retail markets.
If you never imported the japanese version, you were SoL.
