Hang on, found some paperwork. I will be a Community Builder working with folk with mental health issues, acquired brain injury, etc in Edinburger. Which I think means I burst into rooms and shout: "CONTRUCTICONS! MERGE TO FORM DEVASTATOR!".
Er.
No, hang on. 'Role is to engage with service users individually and in groups supporting them to identify activities, education and employment opportunities which will enable them to build social networks and be active in their community'.
DEVASTATOR FORM MUST POWERFUL ROBOT. WE SHOULD RULE!
Christ, I'm shocked.

Might be a month or two before I start as they need an Enhanced Discloure check (which can take quite a while) but hurray. Does mean the next few meetings at the job centre will be amusing. "Yes, I've been offered a job but no I can't start yet as they need to check I haven't been naughty. See you next week."
If I get an interview for the DWP job I applied for today I'll still go for it to keep my options open in case of unforseen administrative difficulties.

TRUE FACTS!
Probably the only job interview I'll ever get away with the following at the start:
Interviewer: "Hello. Are you Ralph?" Me: "I certainly hope so."
PANEL 2: Me: "I like Transformers. They can turn into anything. Cars and planes and stuff. See that crate of grapes on the table? They could turn into that. That could be one of them. They can turn into grapes."
I swear I'm not making this up.

build social networks and be active in their community'. Build networks eh? Perhaps you will be employed to create a global defense network and its army of killer robots..... But in any event - congratulations, this is fantastic news. (Also, it sounds like it was a superb interview - I don't think I've ever managed to get away with anything like that in a Job Interview.). Yay For Chris!!!
In other news, after shelling out more than a month's worth of benefits in five minutes flat I find I cannot see as well with new prescription lenses as I could before. I shall need to work on my calm skills before I go in tomorrow and kick up hell. I was a bit confused by some of the questions during the eye test. Now I know why. Bit distressing.

Welcome to my world Ralph! Happened with me (apparently because my prescription is so strong it is easier to make mistakes or some rubbish. Gosh if only they were /trained professionals/). They kept screwing up, breaking the lense etc, so in the end I wrote an e-mail to their chief executive and blam, got their head of customer services ring me in five mins flat and personally sorted it
So uh, Optical Express aren't on my Christmas Card list anymore
