See collected editions thread in comics/books for my own tale of woe with City Link. I despair.
And today Royal Mail lost a recorded delivery item.

There is a small pile if City Link 'you were out' cards piling up in the communal doorway for a number of folk in my block. Given how nobody else ever fails to get into the central stair these monkeys are clearly not trying very hard.
As Ralph reports Edinburgh's nearest depo is on the outskirts of another town inaccessible by public transport I am very reluctant to order anything from Amazon now.

First day back at work today. Somewhat tiring trying to get back into the swing of things. Then I left to come home on the half-five train. Unfortunately, due to a points failure I ended up spending almost two hours sitting on a stationary train. Good job I had a book with me to read. I finally got home at 8pm - and by the time I had eaten and otherwise sorted myself out it was around 9.30pm and I still needed to sort out a couple of things this evening before I could relax.
It has been a rather long day, I am hoping for a better day tomorrow but am seriously considering taking a flask of coffee with me - just in case I need it on the way home...

My mentor at work is off this week so it's a bit stressful as I try to figure out how to do things.

Well, Royal Mail seem to have lost my big Rescue Force parcel, for gods sake EDIT: Apparently it is in their depot, and they were just about to send it back to the Phillipines when I rang! They said they had sent me 2 letters which is a lie. I can't just go and pick it up even with ID though, I need them to send me another letter. Godddddd.

Today has something to do with Breast Cancer Awareness as far as the female members of Facebook are concerned. A large number of them are posting as their status updates the colour of their bra and at first I wondered what the hell was going on until I discovered why they were actually doing this.

Un-ber-loody-lievable.
Nine days after the seller's e-mail saying my new DVD player had been sent by Royal Mail, two days after City Link (not Royal Mail) told me they couldn't deliver it to anyone but me and it had to be on weekdays (when I'm not at home), and one day after they told me it had been returned to the sender... City Link brought it again and left it with a neighbour.
Bizarre.
I'm very happy. But I'm obviously still going to avoid anyone who uses City Link in future.
Other than Graham.
Order tracking history on the City link website:
07/01/10 10:44 These goods have been successfully delivered. 07/01/10 07:43 These goods have been loaded onto a van for delivery today. 06/01/10 08:28 These goods have been returned to the sender. 05/01/10 16:09 These goods are in our network. 05/01/10 11:01 There was no one to receive the goods at the delivery point so a card was left. 05/01/10 05:39 These goods have successfully arrived at the Depot ready for delivery.

I had to laugh when I watched a news bulletin about a hour or so ago. It was all about the bad weather (what else could it have possibly been about) and it showed footage of blokes in Royal Mail overalls outside throwing snowballs at each other. They should be posting mail through peoples letterboxes but instead they are posting snowballs through their colleague's faces!

I must admit, the media coverage of the weather is getting tiresome. We haven't had a paedophile named and shamed on North West Tonight for days now.

I made a snow Gumond. On Tuesday. It's still there today. It makes me very happy.

Going to have to dig the road side of the car out tomorrow morning if I want a chance of driving at all. Good half a foot out there now, maybe several inches more overnight.

We were down to minus 11 last night on the way home from the vet.
I am quite glad it's Friday. This week took a lot of adjusting to after the fortnight off. I'm feeling old.

I nipped out for a take away last night and a pathway that links the main road where I live to the high street where virtually every take away shop is in my village was like a sheet of ice. I got to the bottom of the pathway and almost slipped over. I was taken aback though when a gang of youths at the bottom of the pathway I thought looked a bit shifty actually put their hand out to stop me from slipping over.

Just cold and icy where I am. Makes getting out of bed tricky as it's so roasty toasty.

I've shovelled our drive for the umpteenth time today and I'm officially sick of the snow. The plants by the side of the drive are completely buried under the 4 foot snow drift my shovelling has made. I was telling the lady at the bus stop today I can't remember snow ever lasting this long (the snow from 3 weeks ago is still under there somewhere), but of course she could remember when the snow was so deep you could walk on top of the bushes and she had get out of the house by the bedroom window, and there was no such thing as grit and shovels hadn't been invented, and oooooh you don't know your born.

The laughter version of Are You Lonesome Tonight? was on the radio just now. It never fails to make me smile - and I wasn't even listening properly.

My mums travelled 20 yards in the last two hours. For some reason the woman giving her a lift is heading towards the city center which is utterly gridlocked.
About 6 inchs fell this afternoon. Gumond had turned into a fluffy Dodo which was disturbing. I dug him out and turned him back in to Gumond. The snow did a grand job cleaning my shoes.

Hello Sportsfans!!!!
Snow-a-rama, baby! Although it stopped me getting to work the other day, me and the Piglet have had lots of fun in it since. She insists on being pulled to nursery school on her sledge. Going there isn't too bad 'cos it's mainly down hill, comming home again though..... Little swine-child even throws snow at me whilst I'm pulling her up the hill!
Had lots of snow/ice related stuff at work recently. Broken this and thats. Been incredibly busy for us over the new year period, absolutely crazy. It seems to kick-off in a certain area, job after job, and one ends up travelling miles and miles to jobs, not mealing 'till 3pm, not able to replace used kit. Good fun responding in the snow though! Barf Barf!
Stay safe out there!

I just received my new Debit Visa card in the mail, I just checked the TFCC website (cant sign up yet due to funds but will next week) but under security number, I'm not sure what that would be, is it the last 3 digits on the section where you sign the card, or is it somewhere else (natwest.com isn't being helpful)

My boss is a fabulous human being. I (to my complete surprise) unexpectedly become distressed first thing at work on Thursday as a family emergency had been playing on my mind more than I had realised so I was given some time off for a couple of days to go see to it.
In other, rather less important news, a chap at Royal Mail found my lost package and had it sent to my local PO so I didn't have to trek out to the sorting office to go get it in the current weather. I did not at all begrudge the 50p fee, for someone had done his best to help me out.
Back at the flat after a few days away. Had my first takeaway of 2010. I shall allow myself a few drinks, I think.

If anyone has done the TFCC registration before, can they tell me what the billing area code thing is? Is it the number you have to put in front of a telephone number to call here from the states?
If so, can someone tell me what it is?
Also turns out the bank have put £150 extra in my account as a reward for something lol

It's possible, admittedly unlikely the price will drop as less will be shipped. Andy

Ice, ice baby 'round here today. Absolutely lethal. Black ice on roads and pavements, Piglet simply couldn't walk on it! Glad I wasn't at work today, bet it's been a busy un!
