Oh dear, I've taken my eye off the TV... I didn't see Star Trek Discovery episode 3 on E4 last week, and I didn't see Doctor Who Spyfall Part 1, and I haven't seen any of Dracula or A Christmas Carol.
Hmmm. Do I care enough to catch up on any of them, that's the question, and if so, which? Hmmm.

Discovery ep 3 is really the first episode of the series proper when the ship and most of the cast are introduced. Eps 1 and 2 are really a prequel in many respects.

Only bother with Carol if you're interested in the kind of adaptation that wants to deliberately shock to prove how grown up it is. Example: opening shot, episode one. We see Marley's gravestone, which is promptly urinated on by a young lad demonstrating his dislike for him. Beneath, Marley is awoken as the urine splashes into his face, eliciting the enraged response, "It's supposed to be rest in fucking peace!". It isn't a BBC production anyway.
Doctor Who, worth keeping your hand in to avoid a corking spoiler if it gets better later on.

Went onto iPlayer, dipped my toes into Dracula and A Christmas Carol and decided they weren't for me. Giving Doctor Who a go. And The Trial of Christine Keeler.

One of the worst WORST films I've seen Is sadly tonight on our TV screen. It's so incredibly bad, It made me quite mad. Its name I won't even deign to mention, Yet I feel compelled to bring it to your attention. www.radiotimes.com/film/c6p6r8/london-has-fallen/Such a stupid movie. If you watch it, please don't blame me... Martin

Justice League has been watched over the last two evenings The poor acting and script gave me gravings. Fortunately Mrs M was upstairs fast asleep And spared the pain by not waking a peep.

Watched John Wick 2 and 3 last night. Great films, and 3 is the final word in are dogs better than cats. Ian McShane is fantastic in them, and the right Larry Fishburne turned up as well. Looking forward to Part 4. Yeah, I saw them between New Year and this time last week. Fantastic films, great shift put in by everyone in the cast really. And yes, the dogs in 3 are absolutely amazing. They are very, very gud doges indeed! Action choreography in both films is startlingly good - the kind of thing that I'm used to seeing more in HK and Korean cinema rather than US films. Just absolutely relentless, and fantastically flowing - whether it is the CQC gunfights, or the unarmed stuff. Special commendation for Fishburne - who absolutely grokked the tone of the movie, and played an absolute blinder of a role. I look forward to seeing where they go with another one. And I did like the pun in the subtitle of 3 - that was most apt. Karl

Just had a look at the first ep of Avenue 5. New space comedy by Armando Iannucci starring Hugh Laurie. Worth a go. HBO series but made in the UK. Premise is a cruise liner is intending to slingshot round Saturn back to Earth but gets knocked off course meaning it'll take three years instead of a few weeks.

Saw a clip for this and looked like it would be worth trying. Unfortunately it is Sky only in the UK.

Fortunately Sky One and not Atlantic like the other HBO stuff, so it's still accessible on Virgin.

I have been finding I watch very little on Amazon Prime as my watch list invariably now has 'give us more money to view' notices on things when I go to watch them. Er, no. Somehow this irritates me more than when things just vanish off Netflix.

Oh my God, in looking at the TV guide to see what's on tonight I have learnt of the existence of what looks like a contender for the worst film ever made! www.radiotimes.com/film/fmyn57/airplane-vs-volcano/7.10pm on Sony Movies Action (Freeview 40) for anyone curious. I'm not that curious. Martin

Avoid. It is made by The Asylum, who specialise in forced self-aware attempts to make 'cult' films.

This month I am mostly watching the 1960s Batman TV series on Blu-ray. They sure made a lot of them.
Already on episode 15, but still less than half-way through the first of three seasons.
BIFF!
POW!
OOOFFF!
To the Bat-poles!

Brilliant. I want the box set to show to my kids, but it's too expensive.
Meanwhile, I am REALLY enjoying 'Would I lie to you', shown on 'Dave'. Lee Mack and David Mitchell have a hilarious relationship on screen, and whenever Bob Mortimer is on it he is SUPERB.

Yes indeed, Bob Mortimer is the best thing on it. And his stories are nearly always true!!
Was supposed to see him live at my local theatre this Friday ('Athletico Mince'), but obviously that's not happening now.

Bob Mortimer is one of most creatively funny comedians this country has ever produced. He always has a... twinkle in his eye, or something... a spark of mischief and genius.
