I'm curious... Did anyone have a favourite Ladybird book as a kid? I remember always enjoying Laserbeak's Fury and Decepticons At The Pole loads.

My favourite changed, as I got the first three together initially my favourite was initially Autobot's Lightning Strike, but after I got a few more it was Laserbeak's Fury.

I've just realised something. When you listen to Soundwave's austere tone of voice and the clanky noise underneath it in these audios, it's like Zen from Blake's 7. I bet that's what they got that from. You assume it's just a quick copy of the cartoon voice, but it isn't. It's Zen!

There's even that upturn at the end of each sentence.
I am currently listening to Autobots Fight Back VERY LOUDLY through headphones to pinpoint the best trade off between noise reduction and affecting the audio. I wish Mark Ayres was here. He could do this better than me.

Good man. The way Soundwave talks in Ladybird is his CORRECT voice. Sunbow got it wrong.

I agree here. The Ladybird voices were the originals to me! Then came the cartoon and they were like pale imitations.

So say we all.
The voice and personality of Megatron in these stories is perfect for the toy. I love the fact he's a creaky old war veteran but he can still kick Starscream's arse.
