Um.
Very, very thin story that does bugger all with the premise. Reads very much like bad fanfic. I don't think the writer is ready for prime-time yet, sorry.
It looks very nice though, especially the colouring. The cover is also very good.
But I expect a comic to last more than literally 2 minutes if I've paid £2.85 for it!

Very much like fanfic, but lacking the setup you'd get in a longer text piece. Waste of a Spotlight to be honest.

The colouring was nice, though it really should have been darker in tone and appearance. The concept itself is wonderfully disturbing, but the delivery is a disappointment.
The copy I bought is labelled as Cover A, but I can't find any trace of a Cover B in the shops or on the web. Is it an incentive B&W cover or something?

Only other cover was a B&W version of cover A. I can't remember whether that was called cover B or R1 though.

Is this issue essential in anyway to the ongoing plot? If not I might give it a miss from the sounds of things!
Ralph, can you bring your copy on Saturday for me to have a read through?

Splendid! In return I shall leave 1980 behind.

Splendid! In return I shall leave 1980 behind. Now that is hardly a fair exchange. And besides why would Ralph want "1980" after it had been left outside in the garden all day? Karl

Having re-assesed it, Spotlight: Mirage is utter shit.

Having re-assesed it, Spotlight: Mirage is utter shit. -Ralph Hmm I was going to ask Gavin for a quick read through of what is now his copy on Saturday. Beginning to wonder whether it is actually worth bothering. (Although by the sounds of it I might be done in the time it takes to make a cup of Orange, mango and Cinnamon tea.) Karl

I paid for this in advance, so I'm wishing I'd not looked at this thread!
(Maybe I'll end up pleasantly surprised...)

This was like a bad piece of fan-fiction. What is its relevance to the ongoing IDW plot? What was happening in half of it? Should we care? (Answer - no).
My advice is, if you haven't yet bought this, save your money.

Just read it.
Oh dear.
The problem is it wants to deal with Mirage's issues of being in the Autobots and show he'd have them wherever he was working. That's a good idea for a story. However, it doesn't work for IDW as we haven't seen Mirage in the Autobots except in the background - nor him showing qualms about it here! And in the Spotlight, we don't see Auto-Mirage at all! Really, we should've been seeing both Bot and Con Mirage in parallel plots to emphasise the point.
Also, the set-up is confusing, annoying and pointless - why are all the Autobots dead, just because Mirage is a Con? Worse, why does Optimus surrender everyone for Jetfire? Marvel and Sunbow Optimus, fine, but IDW Optimus has been shown stoically and quietly making difficult decision for a greater good. The Autobots will all be executed (including Jetfire), Optimus knows this, I can't believe IDW Optimus is going to surrender regardless.

Considering how easily I'm pleased, this didn't do it for me. Oh it wasn't horrible. The art was good, and I feel it was a interesting play on Mirage's name. But I think Charlesrocketboy summed it up nicely. The holes in the plot and the pointlessness of the story within the larger 'verse were too much (I couldn't believe Prime in this story!). I'm all for stand-alone Spotlights, but this was far far far far off being in the same league as Roche's excellant Spotlight: Kup.
