I know exactly what you mean, Doc'. I must resist. I must.

Yes, but what is missing is context. Seeing them in real life in that packaging in a supermarket instantly transported me back in time. It's taken you forty years to return to us to make this post? I hope your journey back was not too painful. You did pick up some extra G2 figures on the way though, yes..?

Tried another ASDA far away and found Retro Chewie. INSTANT WAVE OF NOSTALGIA FOR PROPER ACTION FIGURES!!! Just imagine if Asda sold the TF reissues too.
The search for Retro Stormtrooper continues.

Sat in a traffic jam for an hour heading home tonight so I didn't get as far as Asda. Tomorrow.

Going by what I have seen these are either very hot sellers or each store aren't getting many in. It will annoy me if I cannot find a Retro Stormtrooper!!!

Being an army builder that one will be hard. Are you opening these?
I almost bought these when Kapow got them but managed to refrain. If I see them in Asda though I will not cope.

They will be opened.
You will not be able to resist them if you see them on a supermarket shelf.

No sign of any SW figures in Asda tonight. Not even a shelf ticket or a space they could be if they had any. Very very disappointed.

I think they've mostly come and gone. Mine has had a shelf sticker for them for weeks and I have never seen them in there and I'm in 3-4 times a week. The Velopark store I saw them in once. This range has the feel of Silly Season found stock.
If no more turn up by New Year I will source a Retro Stormtrooper online but I'd rather find one on a shelf! The experience of being transported back in time is half the fun!

Yeah, should have bought these when Kapow were knocking them out as sets. I so nearly did. Ah well. You live and learn.

It's to mark them out as collectors' toys, different to all the Rise of Skywalker toys clogging the shelves right now.

I've only seen Black Series toys for it, nothing from the lines usually more aimed at kids, but yes!

The Retro SW tags have been removed from the local Asdalands. Looks like it was a 'blink and you miss it' thing. Anyone know of an online shop that stocks the Retro Stormtrooper?

Went out of stock ages ago. You can get them on eBay for about double the retail price, but that's it.

Nope. I think you were right assuming that Asda were clearing stock. ID/Kapow had these ages back, possibly early summer. They sold them in sets for £60. There was also a repro of an old boardgame for £20 that had an exclusive Moff Tarkin in the same packaging, a new figure (I think) done in the 70s style. I am kicking myself I didn't go for that when it was around.

Episode IX is next week! Do toys for this film exist? Still haven't seen any! Nope. Not a thing. Well, that's not true. If you want a wide range of figures from both Episode IX and the Mandalorian then Funko has you covered - there are many, many Pops. But very little else. Okay, also not true - there's also the "Galaxy of Adventures" figures, which are admittedly pretty good quality, but there's only a handful of proper Episode IX figures in that, and they're the wrong scale. It just feels so very bizarre to me that the shelves aren't full of 3.5 inch Star Wars figures right now. What we do have instead is places like t'Entertainer still trying to clear all of their Force Awakens and Last Jedi stock that just didn't sell, because the toys are awful. But I've already complained about Hasbro's idiocy up-thread, and their unwillingness to just make good toys, as opposed to stuffing them full of stupid action features. Sure, there are *some* toys, but these are all Black Series toys. Like Poe's X-Wing for a hundred quid, which is just stupid. Where are all the toys for kids that they can open on Christmas morning and fly around the house? Such a very bizarre, missed opportunity...

That article almost restores my faith in BBC journalism!
I didn't know Palitoy toys were made in Coalville. That's where I was born, probably about the time production was in full flow!

"Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, released on 19 December, is sure to set tills ringing just as loudly in toy shops as in cinemas." Well. I mean, it would. If there were actually any toys...

Exactly. I usually red haze on some figures when there's a film out but I have seen nothing Episode IX related at all. Not even tat.
