Stocks of SW Retro in Asdaland have increased. A big pile in the usual toy section but also a few dozen in their own cardboard display thingy at the DVD/Blu Ray section. Also: the Retro figures are reduced to £8.47. Naturally, despite there being dozens of figures there was of course just one Stormtrooper. Though now...there are none! -Ralph

Go. Go! What you can't see is the side of the cardboard display which has the Star Wars Retro logo on it. With it being next to the Episode 9 DVD's/blu-rays the figures are being used as cross-promotion.
And look...Pinwig...discounted...

To be serious for a moment, the small amount of toys bought in supermarkets recently is only because I was in there primarily for Big Shops. BUT PINWIG: STAR WARS RETRO CUT PRICE!!! -Ralph

NNNNNNnnnnnnnghghghghghgherreeeeereeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
I had just about managed to ween myself off the thought of following this line.
AND The Probot, 6" Hoth rebel trooper & Luke in Hoth gear have just dropped on the online stores. If there was a Han in the blue jacket 6" easily available at the moment I would have red hazed by now. That Palitoy Popping Probot set with Han Solo gave me SO much joy as a child.

Anyone know how black series works? Will the new figures like the Hoth rebel soldier get reissued in proper black series boxes at some point?

The 40th anniversary figures are usually reissues or tweaked from original Black Series releases, so it's possible as this time there are two new figures in the 40th line that they'd also be put out in black series boxes for completists. I thought I heard that mentioned at the Toy Fair conference. As a casual buyer I just prefer the idea of packaging that figures can be replaced in as opposed to the carded type that once open is done with.

So I finally had a look at the retro Star wars figures. The stormtroopers had been wiped out from the main stand though I saw two of them down to toy aisle. I assume people are troop building?
They're pretty cool, but I decided to leave them where they were. My entire collection includes a handful of rotj figures (bought from a stall in the garage of a pub at fair, probably a good few years after Jedi came out probably closer to 1988 than 83 as my younger brother also got some) and a Scout walker handed down from a cousin. Skip forward to 99 and I got 3 Episode I toys. I just dont have nostalgia for 77 toys. If retro Jedi show up one day, that might be different.
It made me realise Im in a very small bracket of people born after 1970 whose childhood didn't really feature Star Wars toys. Still too young for action figures when ROTJ came out and too old (for anything but transformers) by the time POTF arrived. Theres essentially only that one 3-5 year period in the last 50 when that could have happened.

I want to open them so they can join the Bumblebee reissues, but they look so good sealed away on their card. And I know they are going to be a bit naff if I do open them.

I have those two, but in Lego form.
Unlike action figure Star Wars, I have gone completely mad on Star Wars lego over the past decade. But I think Ive finally got that out of my system too.

For someone who doesn't really collect Black Series I have spent WAY too long looking at figure guides and lists today working out new mini displays.
