Just got back home from my future brother-in-law's stag do - a couple of nights staying with 16 other blokes in five cabins in the forests of Yorkshire and being driven around in a coach from pub to restaurant by a bloke called Dave. Folks were friendly and distributed over a wide spectrum of drunkenness. I got assigned the quiet cabin and bagged my own bedroom and bathroom. There were many pheasants wandering around looking lost, and we had some magnificent fish at the highly esteemed Magpie Cafe in Whitby. Could have been a lot worse!
Hope you all have a better week 7, everyone.

Sounds like you had a blast, bud. I hope the pheasants found thier way home.
Attic clearout continues and I found some old collected material from my sixth form days and one particular item of cred being a tournament bracket sheet where I won the St Andrews youth centre Connect 4 championship in 1996.
Still watching through the entire Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad episode collection and living to tell the tale. Also won a Drago figure on eBay this evening (sorry, Phil only the smaller version).

I have spent this weekend acting as tour guide for my mother and her husband. On Thursday and Friday night they came over here for a cup of tea after dinner in their hotel.
Yesterday we did some Edinburgh things - The Royal Yacht Britannia (aboard which I learned off an afterdinner pasttime of the senior officers mess called "Wombat Tennis" which involved a soft toy wombat (donated by a lady-in-waiting on the understanding it would receive loving care), a ceiling fan, two members of the mess and a certain amount of pride on the line. This is pretty much the navy definition of loving care really, and the wombat appears to have thrived fairly well - suffering only the loss of one eye which has been replaced by a rather rakish tartan patch. My mother rather enjoyed having tea in the tea-room, served by a uniformed waiter in the ambience of late-forties music wafting through the air.
In the afternoon we did the Camera Obscura (a clever Victorian contraption of mirror, white-painted table and darkened room which throws an image of the city-scape down before ones eyes) and its associated galleries of optical illusions, 3D images (some of which I can see at the cost of nausea and eyestrain and some I can't) and various other things. Including a sound-sensitve plasma panel that was apparently left-over from the set of Star Trek:First Contact (or so the label said) and a rotating mirror tunnel that taught me that knowing how the brain can be fooled into disbelieving the inner ear does not necessarily allow you to override your brains insistence that you are revolving as you try to walk down the tunnel.....
Today was a later start, followed by a walk up the canal to the Falkirk Wheel and a boat trip up in the boat lift, and stopping to get some close up photographs of the very cooperative local Heron, who seems to become less afraid of humans with every passing month (he quite happily ignores loan people as they walk past him now, only moving for groups of people and then only till they vacate his chosen fishing spot). Treated them to dinner this evening and they are off to pack for their journey back down south tomorrow.
A most excellent weekend indeed.

More odd finds include: A packet of Extra Value Digestive Biscuits, an unopened 4pk of Extra Strong Mints (Best Before Sept 2003) and a case of Tic Tacs (from Botcon Europe). I did'nt dare open the latter, but I did try the Tacs and they were fine. The Digestives will never be opened... Typical Morgan family hoarding..
I did find however a large collection of old Auto Updates, Informers, Teletrans and other Tranzines.
I really miss Auto Update. Not heard from Tony in ages. Reading that made me feel really nostalgic. Some of the Informers dated back to early 1993!
