I'm '73 born too. 40 and trying to ignore the fact as much as possible. I actually banned my 40th birthday because I saw nothing remotely worth celebrating, but ended up with Toyworld Brainwave as an 'Early Christmas Present'.
The only humour I find in this is the people who say, "So this toy fanaticism, it's a second childhood thing right?" and I just say, "Nope, still rocking the first one..."

How old is everyone now? I can't be bothered to work it out. Plus we've had some very interesting cyber chumbs join us in the last few years. I'm now 40. 40 and proud! 40 is the new 30 which is the new 20. So I'm 20! Imflapable logic. Indeed it is! I am still the alpha and the omega, mind. Ageless and all that.

You, me and The Kaptain were all born 73. I believe I'm the only one of us to reach 41. Only temporarily. I am closing in on that age by steady degrees. (I'm like the Captain of the Amar in ST:TMP - "waiiit. Waaaiit. Tactical, Fire Torpedoes!") Karl

I actually quite liked reaching my 40th Birthday. When I was a kid I expected to be a radioactive crispy fry before reaching 30. So 40 was quite good. Also, I had by that time discovered the joys of being the grouchy elder-bot like ROFD Jetfire - so I felt like I had finally achieved the kind of role I was meant for. I've never admitted to having needed a second childhood either. And folk in the office got accustomed to me rolling in with a large box in hand, to the extent that my boss was always bursting with curiosity to see what new Robot Aeroplane or whatnot I had acquired. It's one of the reasons why I love this forum so much. I wouldn't be able to cope if this was all 12 year olds posting about how the movie toys are the best thing ever. I really feel like everyone here understands me. Everywhere I turn there are conversations about things I'm into. It's amazing.

I think I assume that everyone who posts on the Interweb is around my age and am always shocked when I find out they aren't. Here most of us either came to Transformers through G1 and the comic or BW so are older. The movies etc haven't generated many older UK TF fans and, Jetty excepted, we are all in the UK.

This coming week is the 10th anniversary of the pulmonary embolism that almost did for me, so I can only feel grateful for getting this far!

I am convinced Shockprowl is a AI pretending to be human hence why we have never met him.
Fear not our bitty friend. We don't hold your virtual nature against you. We are not the Federation after all!

If Shockprowl's still the new boy after seven years I must still be on probation. Which is probably a good thing given the drivel I spout. In terms of events I'd hoped to go to Auto Assembly as I haven't been to one since, I think, 1999 (when I'm sure it was in a church hall in Clapham?) but it conflicted with other travelling. However I am definitely on for RORC in October as it's only 40 minutes down the road from me.

Yes, I'll have to pull my finger out in that respect. I'm just always busy! Various Wives and Childrens, saving lives and breaking hearts, doing my glamour shoots, running my organised crime network.....

I still have the programme for that somewhere. Lots of Beast Wars excitement at the time because Simon Furman was talking about writing for the show.
RORC = Roll Out Roll Call, the TF/Joe con in Southampton.
