As listed in the "How Many..." thread, some new toys are with me, but I've only had a chance to open a couple.
Before I get to those, though, I finally opened the Earthspark Jawbreaker that I got from TK Maxx for £6.99 around Christmas, and... bloody hell. I feel ripped off even at that price. I mean it's a nice little representation of the character, but it is very little, it does very little, and it feels so insubstantial in hand. If I'd paid the full £15 for it I would've been very unhappy.
Year of the Dragon Crimsonflame is... interesting. Being a reuse of an older toy from The Last Knight it does of course suffer from the odd hand feel of those figures, especially compared with recent Generations toys. But it's also solid, and with no weaknesses, and looks very nice. Happy to have this one, since it's an oddity. And I like the flight stand.
And the TakaraTomy Ultimate Optimus Primal is very nice. Very solid, very chunky. A good monkey.

Nice. I have been playing with a KO Metrotitan today, who did not come with a Metrobomb, KO or otherwise. I'm guessing that the plastic on the G1 version is better than mine. The blue plastic feels rather brittle, and the tolerances (is that the word) on the various plastic parts is a bit varied. Some are nice, some are worryingly tight, and others are frustratingly loose. I suspect that this has been built from a Metroplex that has been taken apart and scanned rather than from an original mold-frame thing. There is a lot of moldlines too, which are not present on any of my Metroplexes. Metrotitan itself is a funny sort of beast, it feels like its patched together with bits of different coloured Metroplexes. Being so used to Metroplex being block-coloured to have all the different parts of it being different colours feels weird. All in all the lack of the Metrotitan-exclusive parts means that this is 'just' a party-coloured Metroplex, and whilst that's still cool, being able to connect it to Micromaster bases would be great. I think that this won't replace the desire for a Metrotitan, but it will satisfy for a while!

I've got the KO too and basically yes the KO is just Metroplex with Metrotitan colours and made out of worse materials. The pink parts on the KO are a lot brighter too. I'll post some comparison shots once I update my display.

The KO also comes with Metrotitan's sticker sheet (I think, its not Metroplex's and the Metrotitan on tfwiki seems to confirm) and that was a pleasure to add except where I f*cked up the helipad sticker, which at least adds that authentic child-applied vibe that we collectors appreciate so much

I had to replace my stickers on my KO - after 15 years sitting in a display cabinet they had all fallen off except the helipad. Ended up getting the upgrade sticker sheet from Toyhax which is very nice! Fortunately my real one has pretty much perfect stickers so no need to replace them.

Laser Optimus is a pretty good toy innit. I had an incomplete one years back which I sold, but complete and with working electronics (which I 'fixed' myself and am proud of) it is ace. The base mode, which I thought was a bit crap because mine was incomplete, is actually great. Pleased that I jumped on a decently price auction and got a good deal.

having now had a it of a play around with him, I do think a lot of Legacy Animated Prowl's aesthetic ills could have ben solved by giving him the skinny thighs. He wouldn't look quite so stumpy then. But I guess that would hurt the bike mode...

Could resist picking up 40th anniversary Blaster when I was in FP earlier. Also my white Sixwing set arrived from Japan last week. Unfortunately 3 of the 6 are very beige and sunburnt - should have paid more attention to the photos! They still look good when combined though so its not all bad.

I opened Legacy Armada Starscream; I kind of really like it despite my usual reservations about toy homages where they've gutted them of play features.
My daughter looked at it this morning and asked if the two gun things flip over when you press something because they really look like they should, but instead they're kind of weirdly vestigial.
Similarly there's one sword which looks like it should be a part of the plane mode and another which should be made up by combining three minicons (and which feels like it should have been transparent).
I'm also always disappointed by planes, especially in the larger size classes, with not even a nod toward landing gear.
All of that should score massively against it, but I really like both modes and the transformation between them. It's a really good-looking robot, and fun to handle.

It is, isn't it. Nicely proportioned and goes well with Megatron. It only falls down when you stick it next to the original and realise, well. We live in more meagre times.

Finally opened Banzai-Tron last night. My, he's a big lad, isn't he?
Kinda wish he had a hole in his back so he could wear Razor-Sharp as a backpack if they weren't going to make it turn into the gun mode though.

Stuck a reissue Iguanus in an ID Toys order. Rude not to at £6.99.

Medix is kinda loose and floppy. Makes me wonder about Phil's many repaints...
I know nothing about Medix, so I'm claiming her as a girl.

Toys were on offer in Sainsburys, so I finally picked up the recently-released Earthspark Warrior class Twitch (just in time for the premiere of the final part of season 1, last August!), having held off for just such a moment.

A box of joy arrived from Japan. Ive been waiting over 3 months for it, so pleased it finally arrived.
If you ever wanted 45 Japanese ROTB miniposter/flyer/pamphlets this is the box for you. If you dont, well there was also other stuff.
*Predacon Tantrum MIB. This ones Matts fault for pointing out. it was like £25 and the box needs some restoration which will be fun.
*Ikard. I think this is my third junk Ikard, between them I might now have one with four limbs. Fingers crossed.
*Mixed lot Kabaya Road Ceasar spychangers gobots. - 25-30 years ago I got a Skids, well some of a Skids. Head, chest and left arm to be precise. Last year while scrolling through Yahoo auctions I came across a Red Diaclone Skids/reboost. Well the legs to be precise. I felt I needed to bring these two very incomplete toys together. This makes me very happy, or it will when/if I can successfully join them. The rest of the lot included a load of Rescue Robo Cg, Kabaya Road Ceasar and a bunch of other random stuff all of which turns out to be pretty great.
*Cryotek junker - my second Cryotek junker between them I should be close to most of a figure.
*Kabaya Fort Max and WST TF - A really random lot that I'll mostly be selling off, I really only wanted a really beat up book listed as a Transformers Encyclopedia from 1985 that I was curious about.
*Webdiver Gladion front of train bit - because my Gladion was missing this bit.
*Armada Crystal Convoy - As mentioned elsewhere. Somewhere along the line I started a Crystal Convoy collection so this has been on my wish list for a while. Just the figure, missing the minicon and smokestacks. Which is fine when it saves me about £50.
*Junk SS Blackout Dark Energon Wheeljack- Exactly what it sounds like
*Halloween Hello kitty - Still cant find a cheap Hello kitty, but Hallowean Kitty is probably better.
*1980s Prowl card - A little Panini sized card with Prowls boxart on it.
*DOTM Muffler Towel - Honestly one of the stupidest things Ive bought in a long while which is saying something when in the last 6 months alone Ive bought a Masterforce Hankerchief (unused thankfully), a Japanese Lovebug movie flyer and well 45 ROTB movie flyers.
*Car Robots Card File lottery prize - I thought this was going to be bigger. It can hold about 16 Car Robots profile cards.
*2007Movie flyer - I went a bit crazy on movie flyers, these are just hte ones I couldnt fit in an earlier box.
*Red Blaster decoy Blue Ramune Superion and blue Prowl Milk caramel decoys. Decoys!
*Milk Caramel Decoy Megatron RED and junk hoist - So Ive found the Hoist, I cant find the Megatron which is mildly annoying, will have to go through the bubble wrap make sure I didn't miss it.
*Yellow Sideswipe Purple Hook Red Hound Brawn Bluestreak Sideswipe decoys. More Decoys!
*Transformers ultimate Guide Book 2007 flyer paper model prime. I think I bought this for the flyer, then afterwards realised there was a full ass book and papercraft Optimus Prime model included.
*45 ROTB flyers *sigh*

Picked up Legacy Megatron to compliment Crystal Convoy. Scale actually works pretty well. I opened Legacy Armada Starscream; I kind of really like it despite my usual reservations about toy homages where they've gutted them of play features. While I fully understand that feeling, my big gripe with Armada was the loss of articulation that Beast Wars had made standard. While I miss some of the play features and can not comprehend why there are no minicon ports on Megatron, I really do like having a posable version of the character. Though how it was ever meant ot be a £50-60 toy is utterly beyond me. In my quest to get every micromaster an important addition arrived last week: Metrobomb! Oh and he came with a free Metrotitan. Lucky! nice, thats a rabbit hole Ive been circling for a while. Thankfully I, somehow, have a lot of the micros that came with larger figures and so far dont have a completionist urge. Toy-Fu should have one of the chase Sixwing figures in time for August. 50/50 its one of your sunburnt lads. Just saying.

Got home this evening to be able to open Beast Machines Mega Tankor on the call. I've wanted one of these since they came up in the poll, so set an eBay search and finally nabbed one with missile and instructions for £13 plus post this week.
This is a gobsmackingly good toy. So many, many play features. Even Action Man style eagle eyes. Well, eye. But in vehicle AND robot mode, and spinny blades, firing missile, light piping, twist this, turn that. Brilliant. Great robot, super articulation, brilliant tank. Boom.
Legacy Gears and Origin Wheeljack arrived today too, but they aren't getting a look in.

Code Red has arrived from HMV. Very creative pizza box packaging. A lot of effort went into that. The figure will have to wait a bit.

Code Red is indeed a very nicely packaged toy. All specially printed tissue paper wrappings and fake pizza inserts.
Im pretty sure I prefer Code to any of the Ironhide/Ratchets of recent years. Something very silly about it.
