What the heck is chip spice? -Ralph Its a Hull delicacy. A mix of red salt and paprika. Every Fish and Chip shop in the city and most other take aways serve it. Most of the supermarkets sell it locally now too. I have tried this, but have it down as something that is potentially Bad For Burns' tummy.

That is about as fake as mash can get. Quite right. I used to enjoy eating Smash when it came in those lumps, but all the instant mash is just powder nowadays and it's disgusting to eat a spoonful of powder

Given that the poor boy doesn't grasp how many mm are in a cm I don't think we should be encouraging him to believe this fiction is how it really happens. With great reality comes great responsibility.

From this we determine Smash is the only true Smash. Mashed potato is something different.

Then it turns to a gooey mess.
I will sometimes get the pre-mashed trays in Tescopolis. The lumps have been taken out but it needs lots of salt.

Smash was the only way my parents could get me to eat mashed potato. No. Smash was the only way your parents could get you to eat Smash. Then it turns to a gooey mess. I suspect you're using the wrong sort of potatoes. Also - lots of butter. If you think you've put too much in, you haven't.

Only if you're lazy and want no control over how your mash tastes and is textured.
I will admit that mashing the potato can be a faff, and it's beyond my hands, but I have NEVER tasted shop bought mash that is anywhere near as good as decent home made mash.
You will be served proper mash in your next visit to the death fortress.
