If you do a search on Heritage Auctions ( www.ha.com/ ) there's a lot of Delbo art. Tons of Meccanibal, Skullgrin, Longtooth and Rhythms of Darkness as well as several other issues, if anyone has any requests for future colourings. No complete lineart collections for any issues, I think though  |

Nice work, does bring out some details I hadn't noticed before, but a bit too shiny for the artwork for my tastes. I don't think modern style colouring works on the older artwork not drawn for that style of colouring.

I know it does feel a bit 'computery' in places, but I like stuff like glowing eyes (I know others dont, but it is a de-facto robot thing with me) |

I have no TV.
Glowing eyes do not work in comics as they form a bright focal point dragging attention away from other parts of a panel. They also overwhelm character's facial expressions. They are also a bloody stupid idea.

Somehow 332 issues of Marvel coped fine with non-glowing eyes other than when folk were stabbed or tapping into the power of a black hole or whatever. This glowing eyes nonsense started with Dreamwave and needs to stop! -Ralph |

I've watched a lot of television and I haven't really noticed much in the way of glowing eyes on robots and mecha - mostly I've seen it done as the exception to show that something dramatic has happened - the Type-O's camera glowing red to show it has been taken over by the virus in the first Patlabor feature, a flash of red to show Sharon Apple powering down at the end of Mac Plus, an occasional flash of eyes to show that a moment of heroic/villianous effort is about to happen.
In my experience it is the exception rather than the norm in television. As to comics I don't remember it happening in the vast majority of robot comics that I have read. I also think that it comics it looks daft because it draws the eye away from whatever is supposed to be the focal point of the panel.
But, then I'm an old person so what do I know? :-)

Dare I bring up Sunbow? Ah, why not.
As a kid I always took away from it that most if not all TF's eyes were at least dimly illuminated from within at all times, with occasional moments of exceptional brightness for dramatic effect.
Also, when Optimus dies in the movie and his eyes glow and dim, they go much darker than usual which would lead one to assume that the rest of the time they were indeed lit up. They certainly looked lit during Beast Wars. As were everyone elses.
As for seeing it on other robots... Threepio's eyes were lit up, Marvin's eyes were lit up... I think the exception for me comes when the eyes cease being merely illuminated and instead become akin to high-beams. And sometimes that's acceptible.
It's all taste, end o' t' day. But I certainly don't think it came in with Dreamwave... that was simply the first run of TF comics we had with the new colouring methods.

What works in one medium does not work in another. Glowing eyes can work in animation but do it in a comic and it becomes the focal point of a panel. Slavish Sunbow fanwank from certain publishers brought it in.
