Wow. Slept for 11 hours last night. Really needed it. Work's been nuts.
Hopefully March will move at a saner pace.

NOT a good week at work. Perilously close to telling them to stick it up their arse and walking out.

Sorry to hear that.
In the meanwhile Phil appears to be getting a conjuctivitus like eye infection.

Better get that looked at dude. Don't put it off. I wonder what next week's thread will be called Had a bit of a laugh yesterday with Blaise and a GoPro camera attached to the pram. GoPro is the ultimate compact cam! Ignore any of these others that the description claims they shoot in HD, because they don't! Its just a bigger framerate. GoPros are like the cams used on Top Gear and they can work great in numbers

Swapped out my PC's power supply today for the one that was in previously, to see if that can better cope with the strain of running a regular 3D game without going all Chernobyl after a couple of hours. Apparently my new graphics card is a thirsty beast and needs about 25W across the 12V rail according to a review. This is less than my current PSU can provide so I've swapped it out. It's a shame there's nothing in the card's actual documentation that says that some brand new power supplies can't cope with it even if their overall wattage rating would seem to be plenty.
On the bright side, I don't appear to have any kind of infection.

I've finally got on top of my workload. Perhaps only temporarily, but I'm opening a bottle of wine to celebrate quietly anyway.
Booked some time off in March - I have to use it up before the end of my leave year - and some days on training courses relating to my main area of work. I've managed to make some good progress on the work areas that I lead on, at the same time as covering some of the work done by colleagues who have left and not been replaced. But I am determined not to let the latter get in the way of the former - and I'm taking every opportunity to remind senior staff that if they want the latter done properly they need to get their act together and fill those vacancies.
Have a good weekend, everyone.

Heavy shit going down at work. It's not a happy boat at the moment. Some channeling for colleagues for reasons I can't go into online would be much appreciated.

Will do. Hope the boat becomes a happier one.
Can you guys give channeling my way too. I'm currently in an equality struggle locally (as are a few other dads) regarding inadequate child facilities at our church and a few people in charge of the building (not the pastoralship) are opposed to the idea that dads push prams and change nappies too. I will go into details at a later date.

Done on both fronts. Good luck lads.
My PC is still heating up with extended Mass Effecting, but I've been playing for about... well, longer than is healthy for my eyes or my arteries and the case isn't nearly as hot as it used to get within about 90 minutes using the other PSU. I think I'll stick with this setup.

Spent today having a blitz of the house which really should have been done last weekend, except for being away. Amazing how much one can get done when one sets ones mind to it. Now I think it is time for me to put my feet up a bit ahead of a thing this evening with some friends. Karl

Hello Sportsfans!!! Channelling to all who need it!
We have some organisational stuff at work looming in the next year or two which will be interesting, everone at works talking about it. And I still have a leak in my down stairs loo roof. But other than that alls well, baby! Squid is nearly nine months old! Don't know how that's happened. She continues to look like me, lucky girl (Piglet looks more like Mrs Shockers, you see). I'm still heavily into Star Wars, and my recent sales on ebayus have funded several purchooselings of the Star Warsian variety. Now if you'll excuse me I must go and squeeze the baby's fat bits.

Whole slew of free musical performances at the Wales Millennium Centre today. A brass band from midday till 1pm, then a jazz thing from 1 till 2 (the improvisational stuff as they set up was good but the main bit was too discordant for my tastes), then two male voice choirs (Porthcawl and Treharris) between 2 and 4, huzzah!

My walk along the Forth and Clyde canal this morning revealed that it is currently blocked to navigation by a very large fallen tree which spans the entire canal. At least, blocked to human navigation - two ducks were swimming back and forth from one side of the tree to the other with very self-satisfied looks on their faces.

Some progress on my dads equality mission should be happening this week, for those interested.
The person in charge of the toddlers group is going to get some basic facilities put the Gents (a potty, a seat etc) and has already had regular checks to make sure the child step to the urinals stops being hidden. Some funding has also come through to modernize the building with hope that better access is made to the disabled facilities and equal childcare for dads.
