An awesome full-size replica of Optimus Prime is embarking on a high-octane tour across the UK to enrol kids to join him in the battle against the Decepticons and the incredible truck is set to hit Smyths Toys Superstores in London this weekend. Measuring 9 metres in length, 3.4 metres in height and 2.46 metres in width, the truck will stop outside Smyths Toys Superstores in Gallions Reach Shopping Park, 3 Armada Way, Beckton, London E6 7ER, on Saturday, June 30th between 11am and 6pm. Then on Sunday, July 1st, the 8 tonne truck will be located outside the store in the Friern Bridge Retail Park, Friern Barnet, Pegasus Way, London, N11 3PW, between 11am and 5pm. The vehicle is a genuine Peterbilt truck transformed into an incredible accurate life-size version of the Optimus Prime truck. Visitors to the participating Smyths Toys Superstores this weekend can get up close and personal to the Autobot leader, have their photograph taken with the truck and take advantage of an incredible 25% off the toy retailer’s entire range of Transformers merchandise. Did you write that yourself or did someone in marketing come up with the words? Seriously though, spam aside, some folks may be interested. Mods: Should this be in the toy sightings forum?

Gallion's Reach is on the DLR, which is pretty convenient for me - I might well check this out.

Surprisingly nice place there, as far as huge out-of-town shopping centres go. Got a free Kreo Optimus for having my photo taken with the other half in front of the Prime-truck. Also, Smythes were swimming in Dreadwing Cyberverse toys.

I didn't go for the photo. Might have done if the missus and daughter had been with me, but not by myself...
I liked Gallions Reach in an odd way. It really is proper out-of-town, not-intended-for-pedestrians, which is something I'm not so used to any more having been in inner London for a decade. I doubt those pavements on Armada Way were well trodden, and there were areas of the (vast) car park that looked like they didn't see much use either.
I quite like that whole no-mans-land thing, fields of long grass and poppies in eternal battle with car parks, rarely trodden paths formed of bricks and looming, often abandoned industrial structures. On the one hand it's all about convenient consumerism, big chains piling them high and selling them cheap but they've developed a weirdly compelling atmosphere of their own for me.
Still, I did find the sheer size of Tesco the wrong side of terrifying.

Didn't brave the tesco, got all my toy shopping done at Smyths... At 25% off of £8.99, they were almost as good as the Tesco prics on Cyberverse Commanders.

To celebrate the launch of the new Transformers Prime Beast Hunters, the Optimus Prime truck is embarking on a UK tour where fans will get the chance to ‘choose their side’ and discover the new range.
Based on the third season of the Emmy Award-winning animated series Transformers Prime, Transformers Prime Beast Hunters, the Autobots face off against both the Decepticons and an unprecedented new foe: the dragon-like Predacons, led by the spectacular Predaking character! Hasbro’s 2013 Transformers Prime product line will be based on the new Beast Hunters story and will feature many of the new Predacon characters as well as new designs for favourite characters like Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and more.
Accompanying the replica of the Autobots leader will be an interactive Transformers Station that will showcase the new range of Beast Hunters toys alongside viewings of the thrilling new DVD series Transformers Prime, digital play areas and the opportunity for fans to have a customisable picture taken with Optimus Prime and the new Beast Hunters against a green screen.
The Optimus Prime truck and Transformers Station will be at the following events this Summer:
Royal Highland Show, Edinburgh: 20th-23rd June Fairford Airshow, Swindon: 20th-21st July Sunderland Airshow: 27th-28th July Bristol Airshow: 8th-11th August Lollibop, London: 16th-18th August Bournemouth Show: 29th August-1st September
