Was: Takara Fans Choice: MP 20-odd: Star Saber! (probably)
There's also a poll to decide who becomes the 30th Anniversary Masterpiece figure. Alas, only Autobot leaders are eligible.
For my money, Optimus Primal, Lioconvoy and Big Convoy's original toys are so good that MP figures don't seem necessary. Ditto Fire Convoy. I don't think the Micron Saga Convoys are popular enough with adults. Dai Atlas for me is made great by his motorised features and connectivity with other figures, so as much as I love the guy I don't think I'd want an update as much as a reissue (reportedly on the cards via Hasbro Asia). Fortress Maximus has just been reissued, though I wouldn't say no to a Scorponok-sized version with better articulation in the lower body i.e. knees. Super Ginrai? Possibility of a Godbomber down the line, and if he's popular enough... Overlord? Star Saber. Hmmmmm. You can't do Star Saber without Victory Leo. Then...
Basically what I'm saying is I'd like to see MP Scorponok, Overlord and Deathsaurus. Contrary, ain't I?

I'm thinking the poll is a bit of a smokescreen as PMOP is a shoo-in and is probably already far along in the design process. My second choice would be Armada, though - great design, an MP engineered version would be magnificent.

PMOP just screams to have a version with a better cab and enhanced articulation. When I reviewed the toy I went into what I thought was possible to do to the current version of the toy to make it better.

Bah! Why only Autobot leaders? We need new MP MEGATRON!!!

I need that G2 MP Smokescreen. I need it. I need it.
All three Beasts are my choices, with Primal being top. They win by virtue of being beast wars. Followed by Armada Optimus. None of the japanese autobot leaders (Dai Atlas, Star Sabre Victory Leo) have ever held any appeal to me. I've always strongly disliked their designs. Too japanese and too generic.
But as for the poll... it's bogus, IMO. There are lots and lots of characters that are much more worthy than another Optimus, or superpowered autobot. G2 Megatron for starters. Ironhide/Ratchet. Sporponok.
Though we also have to keep in mind that MP is run entirely by the japanese now, and the characters who're important to them are fastly different than us. Beast Megatron seems like he should be a shoe in since he's arguably the best villain in the franchise... but he was treated like a joke over there. We seen how they view Grimlock (Another character important to western audiences)... as just a clown wearing a maid apron.
Oh well... Maybe Hasbro does at least have some pull, since we haven;t seen another Gun megatron that no one outside of Japan can really sell. Or maybe that's just retailer backlash?

I wonder if they'll do variants of the PBS mould- Diaclone "blue" Bluestreak, "Polizia" Prowl and such. If they've got four uses out of Sideswipe/Red Alert with minimal alterations/add-ons...

I will be shocked if a blue Bluestreak is not made, whether it is main line or an exclusive of some kind.

What to do with Smokescreen though? Go a bit random and deck him out in fluorescent yellow as Gobots Soundwave?-Nick

It would be amazing if Star Saber won and then the MP toy was a re-do of the Armada Star Saber.

I will wait until I actually see what it is going to look like before I decide whether I am interested. Well, that and the fact that I don't know how much shipping and customs fees I am going to be hit with in April for my most expensive single mecha purchase ever meaning I am not allowing myself to think about other high-price tag items until later next year.

This is a must have dream come true, although I hope he's not too big. In fact, I hope this means we might get a generations version, which I would be happy with. Or maybe I'll hunt down Robotmasters... but this guy might be too good to pass up.

That's some nice sketches, but it doesn't really tell us anything. I want a proper sillouette!

If they show us a silhouette I'm going to flip out, but it looks like they'll have an actual resin protoype there.
I'm guessing he'll be around the same size/price point as Magnus. Unfortunately.

They'll show us a silhouette of the resin prototype. It's all about the silhouettes.

That looks rather nice!
I wonder if there will be the engineering inside it for a potential Victory Leo add-on?

It does look very very nice. Instant purchase Oh yes. Very impressive MP figure. If Hasbro don't I am sure one 3P group will do a Victory Leo. Andy
