My digital reading has taken me to The X-Men. Started with GS1, got up to 141 so far. Nothing really to counter previous opinions. It does start slowly: the Sentinels story in the run up to 100 is the first good one and it only really gets going when Byrne comes onboard. Forgotten how much I liked the X-Men's visit to Japan in 118-119. Now just getting to the bits I want to read, the post Byrne issues which I havn't read in a long long time bar 144 which I had a sudden desire to read the other month. Odd reading in digital issues rather than trades as I have to keep getting the next issue up rather than continue reading. Regretting not bagging those Masterworks digitally the other week. Ah well, next sale. Oddly having to um and ah about buying them is the main reason I was led to rereading the issues that were within. I'll definitely go to 176, the end of Ashes to Ashes and my first US issue, but I'd like to keep going and do the whole JRjr run as that's "my" X-Men, the issues which were on the shelf when I was starting to get interested in buying comics and the ones I tracked down as back issues at comic marts in the 80s. I read to 213 and the end of the Mutant Massacre. No new observations..... Just why hasn't the Brood story had a softcover collection (154-167) isn't the Paul Smith run great (165-175) and why hasn't the first half of the JR Jr. run been collected in softcover (177-188)

Uncanny X-Men - definitely benefiting from the new weekly schedule (even if my wallet isn't). There's a pace and urgency to events that I've not felt in X-Men in a while.
Cautiously optimistic.

Enjoying the now weekly Uncanny X-Men, it's a lot livelier and pacier than a lot of the recent books. Plus we have X-Man back, can only be a matter of time before we see Adam-X the X-Treme!

Been rereading the X-Men issues in the forthcoming X-Men Epic Collection: Dissolution & Rebirth. Interesting experience so far .... Been a while since I last read these, possibly in the essential, maybe in the digital versions. The run reads far better now than it does then. Back then it seemed to go on forever - and with Excalibur in another dimension and X-Factor off Earth for portions of the same time. Now you can see where it's going - Wolverine's visions in 251/2 are quite an accurate depiction of what the fate of the Siege'd X-Men were - but back then waiting for The X-Men to get back together took an age. By the end of the run Jim Lee's on board, Days of Future Present and Xtinction Agenda are about to happen and Claremont's last great story, the trip to Shiar space - foreshadowed briefly in this set of comics - is about to happen.
