Agree with you - we can have G1 line with a new line that isn't a reharsh with 20 Bumblebee toys.
edit - I guess Hasbro have done up a sketch for Bumblebee to be a core body for combiner.

I think Powercore Combiners were a positive step in trying new things rather just rehashes. It may not have completely worked and was pretty much doomed from the start but some good efforts at new play patterns there and some of the line was quite fun I felt.

So I'm still pondering this - what was the last new mainstream original continuity character? Would it be Drift? Even he was a special case. What was the last G1/2 toy with a totally new character?

The last unique "G1" toys were guys like the Lightformers and Trakkons, lost to obscurity until Ironfist showed up in LSOTW. Last G2 toys were probably the G2 Powermasters. The last "mainstream continuity" new characters were the Battle For The Spark figures from year two of Beast Machines, I suppose.
Nautica is probably the most popular new character, next to guys like Pharma, Tyrest and the DJD. No sign of any of them getting official love yet.

And you're right. I think it'd have done better had Hasbro supported it. Their reluctance to even give it a setting was a horrible choice.

Yeah PCC would have benefited from the more synchronised IDW Hasbro approach. Without name recognition and or new fiction I doubt any new line will achieve much.
If a whole slew of new characters with toys were introduced into the IDW verse, which is perfectly possible with the ancient colonies and what ever else going on, I'd be very happy as long as they were very G1 inspired. Not like for like, but like Build Boy in RID which remains for me the most G1 non G1 bot to be made. PCC actually did pretty well in that regard too, I'd quite like IDW to introduce Dinopopes main bot especially as Grimlock has been sidelined for so long. Just a shame the gimmick was so very badly executed.

PCC was great. Until space became an issue I had most of the range, and it was with great regret that I Toy-Fu'd them when the time came. Kept the Dino-Pope and his drones though (mind you, he is a bit starstruck to be working with his all-time hero Grimlock) and held onto Huffer because he is such a good version of complainer bot and I've not been able to find a reasonably priced original version to fill the Huffer slot. The hands become feet? AND A WEAPON?!?!!!
That's fantastic!
I can't wait for these. Modern Menasor. Oh baby. I'm passing up on Superion though. Menasor and Defensor for me at this time.

Thinking about it there's an obvious Legends repaint here that Hasbro have missed: Blackout, repainted in Blue, as Roller to attach as armour for Combined Prime AAAARRRGH!!!! I've only just spotted this! It's an ingenious idea!!!! I've said it before, and I'll say it again: BIG PHIL TO RUN HASBRO!

If these toys come out and Phil does not like them does that mean the stars go out one by one?

Hoping for some loose Op pics so I can see the rear of the cab and the combined mode in a decent picture.

Hmm, I haven't had my TFC Silverbolt in plane mode for a while, but that looks awfully similar..

My only issue is that the arms look too big not massively so, but the hands also look bigger than the feet which is odd being the same part. The combination seems to exaggerate both issues.
Head, torso and legs really do look excellent though.

There is no justice in the world if 3Ps do not take advantage of CW Prime to make: Powermaster trailer/super mode Energon drones Armada Jetfire and Overload enhancements Leobreaker Or all of the above

I'd mud-wrestle my own kids for a Powermaster Prime add on.

Primes torso mode looks like it could really pull off Energon Primes combined mode.
