Probably not. The panel before he just says, "First I will crush your gun..."

Megatron didn't know about targetmasters at this time - but did he when Scourge was working with him & Ravage in Timewars? I expect Simon did plot points - ie Megatron needs to be here ready for the annual story & this is where I left him

See, this takes us back to the days when kids had to buy their own Halloween sweets, instead of threatening neighbours for them instead. Not one mention of trick or treat.

Quick inflation calculation time!
1/4lb = 113.4 grams. In 1988 113.4 grams of sweets in Woolies cost 39p In 2018 113.4 grams of sweets in Wilkinsons costs £1 - a 256% increase.
Although let's face it, Woolies pick and mix was never really up to cinema penny sweet standards.

Wait a minute, I thought that was a bit easy. It's a pound for 100g in Wilkinson's. Not 113. So it'd be £1.13 compared to 39p. So 291% increase.

30 Years Ago This Week: Issue #190 Monstercon from Mars - Part 1: Film director Rollie Friendly's latest low budget epic hits a bump when his special effects monster explodes on set. His PR wizard, Mitch Keno, draws his attention to the anti-robot protests that happen as Sky Lynx returns the four space-hiker children to Earth and the pair decide to hunt for a local Big Foot to gain publicity. The mysterious creature turns out to be Skullgrin, sent to Earth by Scorponok to establish a fuel depot. Skullgrin signs a contract with Friendly to perform in his films in return for the fuel he needs. Skullgrin mania sweeps the nation, drawing the attention of Josie Beller - Circuit Breaker. Elsewhere, Transformation reassures readers that although Visionaries concludes this issue in the middle of the Four Talismans story, it will return after the hoards of Action Force fans clamoring for more action from Flint and Co have been placated; after a fifteen week break, the A-Z limps on with entries for Kickback and Laserbeak; and on the letters' page, two readers try to start up polls - firstly Mark Clapham wants votes for the redesign of the comic (Letter answerer, cover box character, humour strip etc) and Patsy Zuckav wants to know what the best Grim Grams letter of 1987 was. Dreadwind's observation that Transformers fans like a ' Poll for the sake of a poll' seems... startlingly accurate.

I quite liked this story - so good to see another Decepticon that wasn't completely evil. It's no 'Hoist Goes Hollywood' but I still think it takes a silly idea and makes the best of it.

Ha ha I assume that's the Mark Clapham (remember him mentioning he was a big transformers marvel UK fan years ago)

This thread is 1000 posts old! Hooray!
The bit about TF fans liking polls for the sake of it really made me laugh. Yep, I thought. I certainly know that to be true.

30 Years Ago This Week: Issue #191 Monstercon from Mars - Part 2: Circuit Breaker manages to obtain the location of Skullgrin's film shoot from one of his unwitting co-stars and watches from afar as the Pretender reveals his true self. She attacks and Friendly gets the cameras rolling to record the action. Circuit Breaker manages to interfere with the radio signals Skullgrin uses to control his shell and he recombines with it. In the fracas, Carissa falls from a cliff edge and Skullgrin saves her. Circuit Breaker sees this, but continues to attack, leaving the scene in disgust when Friendly offers her money to kill Skullgrin on camera. Elsewhere, Transformation welcomes back Action Force while Visionaries " takes rest", recapping the story last seen in issue #181; Death's Head gains a sketchy last-minute promo page to advertise his new comic, out this week, although the promised "special one page story" turns out to be a single image advert; and on the letters' page, Dreadwing clarifies that B.A.T. stands for Battle Android Trooper, and not Battle Android Tactical as stated in issue #175. William Sparks of Winchcombe losing sleep over that one, it seems.

Martin, did Skullgrin and Circuit Breaker ever resume their duel..? Not to my knowledge. When they were next in the same place at the same time (US #73) C.B. was more preoccupied with Shockwave's presence. Dreadwing clarifies that B.A.T. stands for Battle Android Trooper, and not Battle Android Tactical as stated in issue #175. William Sparks of Winchcombe losing sleep over that one, it seems. Or William Firebolt, as he's more correctly known. Martin

Sometimes promises of rematches in the TF comic are never fulfilled.
Ultra Magnus and Galvatron.
Swoop and Divebomb.
Professor Morris and Triple-I.

I'd like Skullgrin to just step on Circuit Breaker. He was just earning an honest wage here. (Yes, that fuel 'might' have gone to terrorism but what was Scorponok/Zaraks actual goal by this point, apart from appeasing his troops?)

I'd like Skullgrin to just step on Circuit Breaker. He was just earning an honest wage here. I always found Circuit-Breaker a very annoying character. For someone who was introduced as being highly intelligent, she was also highly irrational/racist in her conclusion that because one robot had crippled her, therefore all robots are evil. Where is the logic in that? Imagine if it was something else, like race or religion rather than being a robot - she loses all sympathy from me when it becomes clear that this view is a permanent fixture in her character. Seven years later, she's just the same, regardless of Blackrock's best efforts. So, a very one-dimensional character. On the other hand, the technology she developed had huge untapped story potential, if only someone else could get their hands on it and exploit it. Like the Road-Jammer tech, and the PARD from 'To a Power Unknown', and Professor Morris's invention, it could be a real game-changer in the balance of power between TFs and humans, if it could be mass-produced. Which is something I've tried to explore a bit in recent fanfiction. Martin

30 Years Ago This Week: Issue #192 Ca$h and Car-Nage! - Part 1: The mysterious Z Foundation assembles four of America's most notorious bounty hunters. They are offered a $50,000 reward for any Transformer they can bring in and are dispatched to carry out the task under the code name 'Roadjammers'. Meanwhile on Cybertron, Sizzle, Fizzle and Backstreet are released from imprisonment by the Firecons, who keep secret the reason why they are sending them to Earth. Elsewhere, Transformation informs readers that a new 196 page Captain Britain trade paperback is now on sale; Dreadwind finally gets to answer his own letters and promises a classic covers calendar for 2019 starting in issue 200; and in Action Force, Destro and Cobra Commander provide a masterclass in stealth with their false beards and undercover threads.

This story always annoyed me that it sent to Earth two of one 3 bot sub team and one from another! Send all the Triggerbots or all the Sparkabots, don't mix and match!

If nobody knows what Destro & Cobra Commander look under their masks - why do they need disguises!!!
It's almost as bad as that old Bob Kane Batman comic I have, where Batman actually wears his cowl under a latex person mask!
Also, rather than Destro being all "Oh, so that's what you look like", shouldn't he be more "AAAAAAHHH - YOU'RE A SNAKE PERSON!!!!"

Isn't there a story where we see under Cobra Commander's mask when he gets killed and that's his actual silly moustache, or am I imaginging it?
