Ralph originally posted this in the Who thread in Films, Music & TV but just in case some folks don't go there here it is again. Jolly spiffy work it is too. Andy

I assume that this comic is set from season 3 of the new series onwards?! I hope that they can do a few stories from series 1 and 2 as I'd really like to see Nick's version of Rose. Billie Piper has a very unique face and I think Nick's style would suit it down to a tee.

So the new Dr Who comic from IDW, we're not allowed to sell or order it. Have to wait for the printing from whoever has the UK license [Titan?].
This affected CSI comics before, we couldn't order the single issues or trades, and instead had to wait for the uk edition [which only came out as trades and a few months after the US release].
I know there are Dr Who fans here, so does anyone know how it's coming out in the UK? Single issues, in the Dr Who magazine, just as trades?

No idea. There's been no word in DWM about it who already have an established comic strip as does the junior DW adventures.

Well that's a bit silly. I'm just gonna order some from the US then.

I will wait for the collected edition and order it from amazon or the like. Importing single issues will be prohibitively expensive. I don't see Panini or BBC Worldwide running it as they have their own originated strips to run.

I'm sure I could point you in the direction of a few decent US based comic services online Ralph. Grahams Crackers flat rate shipping is $9.50 which only works out at under a fiver, so you might want to get it and a few comics together and it wouldn't be too bad.
Chances are that's what I'll be doing when they come out.

My budget is much reduced these days. $9.50 shipping per comic when I wouldn't be ordering anything else is too dear. I shall wait for the trade.

Five page preview now up at IDW's website. PreviewsLooks good, though I don't think p3 looks like Nick's work at all. Andy

Does look rather nice. Might well pick this up if it gets a trade down the track. (Page Three does look a bit different to the other pages though, I see what you mean).

The sounds not too bad. Thanks for digging that clip up Paul. Great to hear about Lee Sullivan's love of the Daleks. It's odd seeing an interview with Simon where he isn't talking about Transformers!

I think we need a Doctor Who comics thread here and what better way to kick it off than with some shameless self-promotion! This weekend at New York Comic Con IDW announced a Doctor Who ongoing written by The Forgotten writer Tony Lee. There's a short news report on it on Comic Book Resources here though it doens't seem to have popped up on any Doctor Who news sites yet, tut tut tut: comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=19931I've managed to get Tony to answer 15 devilish, death-defying questions! What else is in store? I just don't know! But no Voord D: www.redshirt.co.uk/media/tony-lee-on-new-who-comics/

Unfortunately, IDW's licence for Who does not cover UK distribution. We can't get them here.

Well that was true for the Dreamwave TF stuff too remember. Grey imports are delightful.

I've read the two IDW mini's so far. The first by Gary Russell is pretty poor to be honest, the issues with Nick's art were enjoyable but mostly for Nick's energetic take on the Doctor. The second mini was much improved and Tony Lee's work was good, save the last issue reveal of the villain it just fell flat for me.

Interesting how this has changed from the time the IDW books weren't even supposed to be available here as imports because DWM had exclusivity on comics. Titan seem to have steamrolled through it all, but I like their more sensible three ongoing title approach instead of the mess of mini series IDW did.

A comic with three different Doctor strips inside? Sold!
DWA just won't be able to compete.

I forget, was it ever confirmed that DWM had an exclusive license, or was it just that IDW only had a US license? (Genuinely don't recall).
I am quite liking the sound of this, and could be persuaded to give it a try. I am quite hoping that they take full advantage of the huge gap in TennantDoc's timeline, which gives them a really big, legitamately unexplored gap to play around in.

Tis a good thing. I like the idea. A proper comic instead of the activity mag that Adventures is. Old school. I'll buy it for that reason alone, which is unusual for me because although I'm a big Who fan and a big comics fan, I've never been a fan of Who comics. I think the Dave Gibbons Fourth Doc stuff are the only ones I ever enjoyed. Maybe the Steve Parkhouse Fifth Doc.

It's proper large format magazine size! It will kill DWA by end of the year.

We sort of did. Remember the magazine format reprint TF title that IDW had which died after 3 or 4 issues? Ran three stories an issue from Marvel, Dreamwave and IDW.
