Go on to A&E.
It's not the local areas fault. This is the state of the NHS throughout England.

A&E was standing room only and out the door. I had to go to home. Deployed left over painkillers from hospital stay.

Don't be worried about ringing 111 or 999 if you need it in the night.

Back at the walk-in centre for who knows how long. Had to take the day off work. Had I been able to see a GP that would not have been required. -Ralph

A Doctor Quack says it's back pain by how I was lying (3 days ago?) so told to take ibuprofen and paracetamol. Hmmm.

Sudden resurgence of symptoms/intense pain from health condition. No triggers, just happened, after a year of it being stable and more bearable. Very frightening as well as very painful and really bad timing personally.

The Elder Turnbull has not been the best since Hogmanay. Complaints of a headache and feeling a bit foggy headed. Tuesday he'd said he was feeling confused. So yesterday he arranged an appointment at the GP, couldn't remember the time so went up and phoned me at work. Referred to Hospital, so I was there most of yesterday and not back in the house till midnight. He's had a catscan that was fine. MRI tomorrow, looking likely that he's had a stroke, or a couple of small ones. No physical damage, but he can't remember things like the pin number for his bank card and still knows he's not right. It has been a long couple of days to put it mildly.

Very sorry to hear that. With Mum our experience of strokes has been more physical rather than memory and cognitive function.
Hope he improves.
Is he still in?

So. Cat scan and MRI done - not a stroke, but something else is showing. A CT has been done, more bloods, talk of a lumbar puncture. He still can't remember his pin number, and anything in the last week or so hasn't really stuck in the memory.
They did the wee test to see how he could look after himself - making tea and toast and he passed.
He'll be in for a wee while longer.
Not really any further forward.

Hang in there. They're doing all the tests. Ruling stuff out. I assume infection has been ruled out?

Hang in there. They're doing all the tests. Ruling stuff out. I assume infection has been ruled out? Doctor's were all gone by the time I was there, nurses would only read what was on the charts/notes. He was on an IV for an hour when I was there.

The lumbar puncture is a way to rule out some infections. Difficult to guess without more info, but they sound on top of it. Annoying a doctor wasn't there to talk to though.

Yes, but he's not in any immediate danger so I can afford not to get too worked up about that.

Lumbar puncture today and more blood tests. He's on antibiotics, a three week course, then another LP. So he's not getting out for the best part of a month at the earliest. Not as foggy headed, but his short term memory is still fucked, and concentration isn't what it was.
