Are you going to keep it Dezzeh? The £100 bit sticks with me a little. It's a perfectly good figure for what it is, but it should be in the Ironhide £60 range even with the electronics. £60 I could say, yes, it's a nice curio and an official figure. But it's a lot to invest in something that is basically a second best.

Yeah it's the 100 plus price point that's hurting my thought processes at the mo too.

I'm going to keep it as I always prefer to have the official toy, but yeah, £60-70 maybe for this.

I shall remain hopeful for another one of their many repaints I think

I think it's inevitable isn't it. There isn't really any other way they can repaint this other than a darker purple. Grey seems unlikely. Bogatan's idea was right I think. Should have waited. In fact that might be why this one is just a shade too light even for the cartoon, so a darker purple release looks like a bigger contrast.

Do you think you could force yourself to love it, Stockholm-syndrome-like? I'm going to sleep on it. I keep glancing at him hoping something will click in my head. It certainly looks like Shockwave, it's got everything in the right place. It just needs to be an inch taller, a shade darker and cast in better quality plastic. Then it'd be able to compete with Quakewave.

I've been ignoring it. He's out of stock on Kapow and Omegabridgelock so wouldn't be hard to sell for cost.
Hard to know though. I want him because he's the proper figure and does look good, for what he is. But he won't go in the display because he's too small and weedy looking next to Apollyon compared to Quakewave. So it's brand loyalty and the completist urge vs common sense. He's a good toy, but not a 'masterpiece'.
It's actually making me question what I want my collection to be. Is it a collection of the MP range, or a collection of masterpiece figures? If the latter I'm thinking the future is definitely 3P shaped.

Yikes. I've been thinking the same thing, Pinwing, and I haven't even got mine yet.
Thank you, Gentlemen. I foresee I will endure similar anguish... I foresee I will like how the toy looks, but I'll hate the colour, I wont like how it feels in-hand, and it will not look 'right' in the Masterpiece collection. Damn them for religiously sticking to the Sunbow image! I love my Sunbow, don't get me wrong, but Masterpiece used to be something else other than just Sunbow. Look at Prowl. He's the perfect blend. BLEND. MP-10 and Soundwave also. Wheeljack, edging too much towards Sunbow, but still ok. Since then....... well, we've had this discussion a thousand times.
Anyway... tomorrow....

Got him from the sorting office. Not opened him yet. Childrens are about and I don't them to see him 'cos they'll want me to keep him. They'd doubtless love the small spacegun, and would want me to keep him for that alone. And if I resell him it'd have to be complete.
......all of the above may or may not be to cover up the fact I'm scared....

It's fine by itself; it just doesn't work with the others because it's too small/slender/lilac. And it's going to cause immense pain when Takara bring out a proper colour one. They will now because Dezzeh suggested it Y'know if a 3P brought out a slight recolour without stating it up front there'd be hell to pay...

For such an expensive figure of the size he is, he feels quite light. Don't have any concerns with the way the legs clip together, thought it was quite elegant.
Colour is indeed a little light, but this is such a minor quibble.
Spring based "wire" from the back to the arm is quality.

...........................
I hate him. He's a massive disappointment. The colour is TERRIBLE. What the hell were they thinking?! We're watching Sunbow right now and this putrid colour is nothing like the Shockwave on the screen! And he's tiny. Oh dear God. He's actually half a head shorter than MP Soundwave. MP-10 looks like he can pull him in half with his bare hands. It's ridiculous. What a shocker (no pun intended). I'm gutted. I'm bitterly disappointed. I'M WOUNDED!
I'M NEVER BUYING ANOTHER TRANSFORMER EVER AGAIN!!!!!
Ok. Drama Queen moment over...
Having said all that. The actual figure itself is ok. He does feel VERY light-weight, even with the metal parts. The styling isn't to my taste, it's very bland, but I can see how it could be ok if you like that sort of thing. MP-10, MP Prowl, MP Soundwave, Quakewave, all have so much more depth to them. MP Shockwave looks blank, almost unfinished. But again, that's down to my personal taste and I can see how others may be ok with it. Transformation is great. Gun and robot modes look nice in them selves (Gun feels small in-hand). Plastic feels just about ok, but a bit unsubstantial. Accessories I haven't examined yet, but look fun.
Price for this is the greatest shock of all. 70 pounds, similar to Ironhide, yeah, ok. 110 POUNDS?!?! FRAKKING ROBBERY.
But it's the colour. My daughter has a frock this colour. It's not the colour of a Decepticon leader, and one of the most powerful of all Transformers. And the size... Oh what a disaster. He looks ridiculous next to MP-10 and Appolyon. WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY TOO SMALL. I'd have one in a darker colour 'cos I'm a Shockwave fan. It'd look nice on my one and only display shelf with my selection of Prowls and Sentry figures. Otherwise, QUAKEWAVE IS MY MASTERPIECE SHOCKWAVE.
I'm gutted, Cyber-friends. Really gutter. Massive disappointment.

I completely empathise with everything you've said Shockers. The wrench with this is that it's Shockwave. If this had been something like Hot Rod I wouldn't have thought twice about moving it on and waiting for the FT version, which will inevitably be better. But this is a key character, one of the most important, and it's important he has a significant figure, which this isn't. I guess in this new new era of MPs, where 'as close to Sunbow as possible' is what we're heading for, then the blank, unfinished look you mention is what we're going to get because that's what he looked like in the cartoon. The cartoon models don't have any detail.
I'm really torn. If I flogged this tomorrow I could use the money to pay off Stomp and know I'm getting something of quality. If I keep him I've got an official MP Shockwave and I can feel good about that being a centrepiece of my Shockwave collection, yeah, but it doesn't do the job it's supposed to. It's a really expensive optional extra that just pulls on the completist urge.

Thanks guys. I'm selling mine 'n'no mistake. I'll consider a dark purple variant, but at the price it'll be I'll have to think long and hard about it.
