Remember the Marvel swimwear specials? The X-Men in speedos, etc? You could do Rock Lords pin-ups like that. -Ralph Suddenly the concept of putting clothes of any kind on a Rock Lord has made me wonder if as sold they're actually naked.

I had always imagined they were naked as they are rocks and that is their natural state. You don't see rocks wearing clothes. That is why the swimsuit pin-up idea is so good!

This news may cause my head to explode. I never realised Quartex was a nudist colony.

Progress has come on thick and fast with lots of outstanding articles submitted. It's just me text-wise who needs to finish some stuff and then a few images and it is done!
My current plan is to get the cover professionally printed and do the inner pages myself as that gives me a bit more control over deadlines etc and stuff going horribly wrong. Does that sound a terrible idea?
Are there any volunteers for proofreading it as well?

I can do a bit of proof-reading if you like. Being an English teacher it's all I ever do.

I was just going to go for one of the long necked ones, is that a bad idea?

I have a long neck stapler at school for putting covers back on worn exercise books. Tis a weapon of considerable power.

It's a great idea and you know it. Nothing salacious, just cheesy fun. Just imagine Magmar relaxing on a sun lounger by the pool in his speedos while his mates play beach volleyball! -Ralph Matt Dallas just sent me Magmar in a mankini

It looks like my printer will conk out at about 100 copies. Do you think that will be enough, especially given it is going to be free? Maybe we can give it away with purchases of £20+ in order to encourage sales?

I dunno what the expected attendance is, but you could try that. Or ask Nick how many transactions he expects to make and then say free copy with every purchase? Free zine with every Rock Lord bought? If you're putting it online you could include downloads in the readership figures.

My flat now resembles a print shop, I have a feeling these printer fumes are not good despite having all windows open!

I feel like you will all be very happy with what I've been doing!
(Also Rock Lords related stuff, zing!)
The only main issue I have now is printing the cover. Should I do it just one-sided and thus be cheaper, or double-sided and scrabble for stuff to put on the other side? the plus of having the inside white is I guess people could sign it there

Have you got any package art you could reproduce on the inside covers? That would look good.

Post by blueshift on Jul 19, 2016 20:28:10 GMT
Sadly not. There was limited packaging art. The cards were all generic for the most part, and I don't have high res scans of the Rockasaur artwork.

How about magazine adverts then? Those would be cool. I don't really want to reprint stuff that's existing though, I want it to be new stuff. Inside white wouldn't be the end of the world I guess!

Wait - are the inside pages colour or B/W? I was thinking your photography deserves the highest quality reprographics. I had it in my head you were doing a colour cover and the inside pages were B/W.
