From what can be told, cheetah mode is shockingly accurate, in proportions.
This is *not* getting a Tigatron retool.

He'll get Tigatron'd at least once, and Shadow Panthered too.

I'm not normally one to get excited by silhouettes, but this has my fancy tickled. Previous fears waylaid.

He'll get Tigatron'd at least once, and Shadow Panthered too. Takara is not stupid, and a cheetah literally cannot become a tiger. They have been meticulously accurate to alt modes with the MPs to date. And there is a HUGE friggin' difference between Cheetor and Tigatron's alt mode animation models. As in they're not even the same CG model. And this looks to be at least animation model accurate, if not even more accurate to the actual animal. So no. At this point, unless they designed it to be rebuilt from scratch to be a significantly different alt mode in bulk, and sculpt, then no. There is literally no reason to believe as of yet, that it'll be redone as Tigatron. There is no precedent for this in the MP line. A cheetah does not become a tiger. It's like saying Bumblebee will definitely be repainted as Runamuck and Runabout because identical transformations.

And yet we did get a red bumblebee and a supposed goldbug.
We may get a white tiger repaint that is called MPxx-W or something.

G2 Bumblebee, not Goldbug, though.

We didn't get a Goldbug, or a backdoor goldbug homage. We got G2. There's actually a significant difference. a goldbug deco would have a blue head with silver mouthplate, and fairly bright blue robot parts in place of black. G2 had shiny yellow paint to imitate the vacmetal of the original toy (at MP prices, it should have been vac metallized, too), and black parts, just like G2. Plus, Goldbug is also very different in overall design, and to repaint Bumblebee would not be a very good MP Goldbug. And the fact we still do not have the supposed "inevitable" Cliffjumper or Goldbug repaints, actually supports the fact that there's no precedence yet that Cheetor will become Tigatron.

I'm agreeing with you! Just saying there's scope for a repaint in a Tigatron colour scheme, but not called Tigatron.

I need better, colour pictures. Currently this fills me with meh, I had no love for the animated character so this toy needs to be pretty special.

I would personally be quite happy with a Shadow Panther repaint, given that he's a generic mythical black panther. It'd work decently from a cheetah base.

Clearly I've not made my feelings about a lack of a proper MP Goldbug known well enough... ;-)
Anyway, since I'm now here...
FUCKING SILHOUETTES!!!
Still. I'm just hoping that they got whoever designed MP Primal to do this one, and not whoever it is that's on the recent G1 MPs...

You'd think, but still no Cliffjumper or Hubcap from BB. Although, yeah real world cars and all that...

Okay, that's *really* nice. The only downside I can see to it is that it looks like he may have a large amount of kibble on his back. But since that exists in the service of giving him decently proportioned limbs in both cheetah and robot mode, I'll allow it.
Yeah. I'm getting that.

I'm still trying to work out if that's a fake head on the robot mode chest. I hope not. Either way, this is wonderful - and proof of the amazing things Takara can do nowadays. Perhaps in the not to distant future, we will have Age Of Extinction Masterpieces that realistically transform like they would in the films.

He has less than the toy he's based on, and looks like the exact amount the character model has.

Well. A couple of legs hanging off it. I'm sure that the original had some, although mine's been boxed up for so long now I can't remember. Don't remember the character model that well...
But just an observation. And in no way a complaint. That's the bloody sex, that thing is. :-)

That's amazing. What a surprise! Do you think there being a separate back piece means that it detaches to form the gun like the original? The waist looks a bit big and flat compared to the rest of the curves, but I'm stunned by that.
Blimey. Now I will have to buy Primal after all.

Looks fake to me. Bigger and flatter than the beast mode. Not a huge worry though.

Personally, I hate fake parts that are supposed to be the same part in vehicle or animal mode. It's the whole reason it's there in the first place and as much as I love the look of this figure, it's still a cheat. To me, the actual transformation is also an important part of the figure. Still - not bashing this figure - it's great. And who knows, maybe the fake head is detachable and replaces the real head so you can have a slightly more protruding chest if you want to keep the actual cheetah one in robot mode.
