I have bought a selection of weird Kit Kats for my mum, I just need to find a nice tin to put them in now (but all the tins are full of biscuits, can you even buy a tin nowadays???) Yep, tins are purchasable. They tend to be the sort of thing that shows up in garden centre shops, and shops at tourist attractions of one stripe or another. Failing that, charity shops are often a good place to find tins of varying vintages and conditions. Karl

Where did the time go?

I have tomorrow and Friday off and it is the only time I have to get gifts for my family
I have to get something for my mum, dad and sister.
None of my parents have any hobbies or like anything or will watch or read anything.
My sister likes sewing but is super particular so anything related to that would be wrong.
What do I get them?? D: Let me steal all your Christmas ideas.

Sister likes sewing? Does she do her own clothes? Tilly Walnes' book Love at First Stitch is charming, if a little retro-kitsch for some, but the author's backstory of coming up from a humble blog could mean the book is more engaging than just a 50 A-line skirts and other first sewing project type books.
Parents - get them a Pretender Longtooth, obviously.

D: Let me steal all your Christmas ideas. I tend to get my mother an M$S Gift Card for her birthday - I put the £10 present budget on it and she can combine it with the one I give her for her birthday at the start of December to get herself something to wear - as Mum doesn't want to own anything she can't eat, use or wear this tends to work out nicely. My stepdad likes his food, so I have got him a little jar of posh Raspberry preserve from the Birmingham Museum, and will get him some sweets to round out the present. My sister is getting a book - but not the one she suspects that she is getting. Little does she know that the latest Shardlake novel came in under the £10 present ceiling. I think she suspects she is getting "Foxglove Summer", the next Ben Aaronvitch book on her list... Karl
