A slightly tricky one this, on account of never really having ever been that fussed about these guys. Maybe that's because they always seemed to be playing second fiddle to the movie-star re-issues in their line. Or maybe their designs aren't actually all that inspiring. Who knows?
Whatever the case, I think I'll have to go with Pointblank - he's got a sleek looking car mode, which is the most interesting, and thanks to those era-appropriate shoulder pads the best silhouette in robot mode.

Not much between them on strength (6 or 7), intelligence (7 or 8), speed (7 or 8), rank (5 or 6) or firepower (7 or 8). Misfire has endurance 9, the others 7. Slugslinger has courage 3, Misfire 4, Triggerhappy putting them to shame with 9. Misfire has skill 2, Triggerhappy 6, Slugslinger 9. Martin

But more interesting Techspecs! Very fun characters! I had no idea! Some of the values surprise me though, particularly intelligence. Seem fairly clever for a group of characters who don't actually sound very clever. But, yes, very impressed with their personalities.
Toys look ok. Like their Autobot opposite numbers I have had no experience with them whatsoever. So, need to have a think...

It's obviously Slugslinger. Best jet mode, awesome looking robot. Plus I remember getting him for Christmas one year.

I'm going Triggerhappy here. Awesome personality, "Have gun, have fun!". He sounds like a nicely bonkers warmonger, what you want in a Decepticon. Blowpipe sounds fun too. I also like the double-cannon things on his wings.

All of these were superb toys for their time - very inventive futuristic jet designs, strong sturdy articulated robot modes and wonderful paint applications - so much better quality than their Autobot counterparts. Good names too! Slugslinger is definitely the best toy here - his unique twin nosed jet mode and nicely proportioned robot mode with the gold intakes (that unfortunately rub off over time).
But my personal favourite just has to be Misfire. His jet/spaceship is interesting but it was the text specs that sold the toy to me. I just loved his characterisation that basically said he was rubbish at what he was supposed to be (a Targetmaster). A strange backwards way to sell a toy. But it worked with me and he is still one of my favourite Decepticon characters. I would have loved to see what he was like in more Sunbow cartoons.

Again, I too have had no actual hands-on experience with these toys, so again, the question for me is which one stands out most in the catalogue? And clearly the answer here has to be Misfire - because he's the only red(ish) one in a sea of blues and purples. Also he's got a nice, sleek, futuristic alt mode, which just edges it over the other two for me.

Misfire - great colour scheme and jet shape and was fun to play with.

Misfire was the only one I had as a younger, so that appeals the most to me.
With the Autobot TMs, Hot Rod was always the best one, the new ones didn't do much for me. Whereas with the Deceps, Cyclonus and Scourge are the ones that don't do much for me, the new jets are more interesting.

The Autobot Targetmasters must be one of the least memorable groups from my childhood - I never had any of them, couldn't remember them in any stories etc. I picked Sureshot, simply because I could never tell the other two apart.
I had Trigger-Happy though, which makes the Decepticon choice easier. He's good fun too - a transforming X-wing! So he gets my vote.

Misfire for me. He's the only one I've owned, but he's really great. Interesting looking vehicle mode and quite a striking colour scheme, and good robot mode proportions.
I like Triggerhappy's design, in large part because he reminds me of the police fliers from the 16-bit game The Killing Cloud, but I don't think it's quite as well realised as with the amazing TR version. Robot mode proportions really look off.
All three have great bios, though.

Misfire for this one. I like his humanoid mode, his alt-mode is amusing - in a sort of "aerodynamics be darned" way - and he does have a superb bio on his box. There is something rather wonderful about a 'bot who goes to all the trouble of having an upgrade to improve his capability in a gunfight and then still is neither competent at, nor interested in aiming. He is basically the poster robot for "hard to get good help these days".

I'm another fan of Misfire. This is another group that I've never seen/played with in person, but even back in the day I felt that Misfire had the coolest looking jet mode, so he called out to me more.

Thank You. I was pretty certain I had a decent idea but it's always a pleasure to see how many people come back in every week to vote. I'd had the idea floating around for a year or so before I did it so I'd had time to think it over. Even then we needed a few weeks to get it quite right with the catalogue image and the image of the result.
Still some way to go yet, in fact we're not even a third of the way through yet, thanks to Takara's output over the the last few years of the original line. If all goes to plan we should finish with Pyro and Clench sometime in Jan 2021!
After that catalogues stop grouping toys together by themed groups and stop showing everything. But Phil already has an idea for the next thing after that .....
Meanwhile in a few months time we have the thorny issue to deal with of what do we do about the TFs that appear on no known TF catalogue!

I don't know. I think Phil is making it up.
As this is the catalogue poll thread, I feel we should be voting on the catalogues, however we do seem to have a lot of illegal polls, so who knows
