Has to be Carnivac. And not because of the comic - just because the toy looks more exciting than the Battle Pig. Oh see, now I want to change my vote to B A T T L E P I G

A much better name than Snarler.

The official title is War Pig
I am against War Pigs, as some of you may be aware due to the Pig Bench controversy.
Thus I can in no good conscience vote for Snarler.

Another good name (with a pun) would be Powerbore or something.
'Coz he's a boar with a drill for a snout. Geddit?

But he is the only one to vote for. The one true all-time DECEPTICON Pretender Beast!

No way he could have been called Battle Pig. Not even Beast Wars names were that underpowered. One of my brothers had Snarler when we were kids. I can confirm he is quite frightening in person. Not many robots could stop his charge on the battle field. Only Powermaster Optimus Prime saved the day! Often.

Boarinator. Tuskatron. Hellhoof. Roadhog. Oinkitron. Snotsnout. Pigtender. Pigsty. Devilpig.
So many names he could have had.

Decepticon Pretender Beasts Poll closes tomorrow am. Carnivac leads Snarler 8-7 currently, a much narrower lead than I expected. A reminder: Friday's poll is likely to be late too: I'd hoped to be back in Swindon, but for having a curry with a friend I've not seen in six years reasons I won't be: my laptop has to go back with Liz in the car on Weds/Thurs and, as you'll see elsewhere, Mum's laptop is playing up.

I feel it must be Autobot Powermasters today, but I'm doubting myself after Phil said we weren't doing Powermaster Nebulans after doing 1988 Targetmaster and Headmaster Nebulans... Logical expectations are not always followed...
And will Phil include Prime with the Autobot Powermasters or group him with Quickswitch and Doubledealer???

Close call between Getaway and Slapdash for me, had both as a kid. In the end Getaway wins out due to his wings, they look cooler.

Is Slapdash the only one not transformed incorrectly on the picture? I can see Getaway's chest is upside down and Joyride's legs are backwards...

I had Getaway as a kid, and he is lush, but Slapdash is the more interesting transformer. They tried to do something new with him there. How successful that is?
I've owned all of them now, and Joyride is a bit meh, a bit nothing.

Tough choice as all 3 are pish. Woah. And I thought I was going to come under fire for voicing something similar. I was never very inspired with any of these as a kid, mostly because all the designs are pretty lacklustre. And as an adult... I can't disagree. I guess Joyride sticks out more on the catalogue with his colour scheme, so I'll go for him. I do like Slapdash' bio - it's good to see one of the Autobots being a mess for a change. And forgetting the Lube... who does that?

Quick run-down of their appearances in the Marvel comic. Points of interest: 1. Like the first six Autobot Pretenders, they were apparently on the Steelhaven all along, but we never saw them in the Headmasters mini-series 'cos Hasbro/Takara hadn't invented them yet. 2. They are the only Autobots definitely from the Steelhaven crew who immediately adopt Earth vehicle disguise modes - according to tfwiki.net, a racing-modified white Mazda RX-7 FC3S, a yellow F-1 race car and a 'Baja buggy' - even for use on Nebulos. 3. When first introduced, the suggestion is that the Powermaster process makes them better fighters, but as with most gimmicks, this is quickly forgotten and they become decidedly average in a scrap. 4. Getaway is Simon Furman's favourite of the trio, defaulting to him when he just wants one Powermaster in a scene (e.g. 'Fallen Star', 'Break-Away'), and Ian Rimmer made him the star of the text story 'Prime Bomb'. (He was also the first and foremost Godmaster after Op/Ginrai in the Japanese Masterforce cartoon.) But Furman was tough on him. Apart from being blasted off the road by Pretender Starscream, he copped it in both the future and present-day storylines. So much for endurance 10. 5. Joyride got killed by Unicron's eye beams in the same blast that took out Waverider but only gave the mighty Quake a mild headache. Slapdash was seen as a wrecked car in the final issue, but there's a strong implication that both he and Getaway would be restored by the Last Autobot's magic. If the magic involves rewinding time locally to before the Autobots died, then presumably Lube and Rev would also be restored, and go on to merge fully with their Autobot hosts as we saw happening with Prime and HiQ just before Unicron showed up. 6. They appeared in loads of minor stories, from 'Cold Comfort and Joy' to 'Dreadwing Down' to 'Deathbringer' and the Pretender Classics arc, but somehow never made as great an impression as Darkwing and Dreadwind. It can't have just been because of the letter's page, can it? 7. I think the G2 comic may have left Getaway out, but bizarrely, if I recall correctly, Slapdash and Joyride appeared in one frame each, getting blown up again. Martin
