Just had to chase a payment Hello,
It's ten days since this item finished and as yet I haven't received payment for it. It's sitting on my floor waiting to be posted to you when payment arrives.
If you have difficulty paying for this item at the moment and need me to wait a little longer please let me know. Otherwise, as the invoice I sent you (10/09/2011 20:42) states, I accept instant payment by Paypal or contact me to confirm the address to send cheques or postal orders to.
Thanks,
Philip 10 days is a little long to be leaving it, especially as the bid was made just before the auction closed. Usually sniping bidders are pretty quick to pay up so my Non Paying Bidder alert is on.

Safe.
Can you report recently made accounts if they are suspiciously setup for the purpose of buying stuff and not following with the invoice? Basically timewasters.

I gave the person a message (as its been a week already) that I'll give them until the end of the weekend to pay up or I re-list the auction (Springer VS Ratbat 2-pack with comic). I've checked out their profile and there's no record or feedback of other transactions, but on the other hand this person may be genuinely new to eBay and I am being more lenient than a should be. Maybe I am too soft in my old age.

I've reported it. Seller has T&Cs that limit feedback which is against policy. There was even an option for it on the complaints form!

Good work, I never know how to go about complaining about this stuff. I have enough trouble reporting my own sales and purchase problems.

I tried to report it myself but couldn't find an option for postage policy breaches; I didn't think to look for the feedback policy.

Yeah, I'd be surprised if it arrives without any trouble. I reported the listing as well and eBay have completely missed the point of my complaint. Despite selecting "Feedback-related > Listing has terms or conditions that limit or restrict leaving feedback" and mentioning the £100 fine for neutral/negative feedback, eBay have today replied outlining how long feedback reminders stay in someones account and that leaving feedback is not mandatory. Somehow they seem to be under the impression that this seller has not left me feedback. The e-mail ends with "Please let us know if we can be of further assistance". I really don't know where to begin.

It goes to show how easy it is to really screw yourself over when listing on ebay. Being a BIN it doesn't matter so much in this case but in a standard auction how many people wouldn't bother bidding because of what was written.
Actually he has screwed himself anyway because it sounds as though the Overlord was probably worth at least twice what was paid.

eBay buyer: if you're sending me a cheque it's a good idea to tell me and also enclose a covering note telling me what for and where I'm sending it to.

An amusing tale from ebay world:
I've had a couple of requests to add BINs to auctions today. Now I've got no problem doing this if it's a decent offer and nobody has bid on the item.
One user mails me more than once about a certain item. I think about and decide OK then and add the BIN. Gone in seconds before he could get there :-)

I dunno, if you make an agreement with someone to do it as a BiN auction for a set price then Phil should have had a private auction to ensure that person would be the one to purchase it.

The auction was already running by that point, is it possible to alter the format?
Lets just say I've seen the emails that the user has sent me and I did exactly what he asked. However I'm not sure that's what he meant. He's bought another item from me so the feedback for that may make interesting reading!

I don't see it as an issue, if the intended buyer hadn't asked for it to be changed, no one could have snapped it up like that.
I'm not a fan of people asking to change to BINs I've lost out on auctions I intended or already had bid on because if it. I've only done it once as a seller because the item hadn't gotten any bids, wasn't especially hard to find and the amount offered was way more than they had been selling at.

I don't think you can add a BIN after there's been bids can you?
I've got no problem doing it if there hasn't but the next time anyone asks I'll make it clear there's the possibility someone else might beat them to it

Possibly not changed to BIN, but auctions that end for no apparent reason I assume are due to offers to sell off ebay. I have no proof just the frequency with which I get such offers when selling.

I've got no problem doing it if there hasn't but the next time anyone asks I'll make it clear there's the possibility someone else might beat them to it Just alter the text in the description saying it's a private auction for "username" only to bid/BiN. But honestly, if they want you to go to the bother of taking something off auction for them to buy it now then they should be willing to do it off ebay so you don't have to pay fees. They'll still be protected if they pay with paypal.
