Presents not included. So, I've just bought the PotP Terrorcons that I'm missing, but they're for my birthday, so I can't open them 'till December.
What is the LONGEST AMOUNT OF TIME that's gone by where you haven't opened a Transformers toy, or any toy for that matter?
Can anyone beat Pinwig's astonishing 18/19 years?!
I think I spent a day looking at Classics Prowl in his packaging, savouring him, before I opened him. I was so excited about him at the time. When I get a new Transformer that I'm really excited about, I may spend anything up to, I dunno, TEN MINUTES savouring the experience, before RIPPING THEM FREE!!! Otherwise, only things like work 'n' stuff would delay me opening something.
So, my longest is ONE DAY.
One day, Pinwig, ONE DAY.

I have some BW toys still MOC/MISB, but they're duplicates of all the first season characters. I guess, items got that you never intend to open don't count for the purposes of the question? As they're not cobsidered toys in that regard.
Largely though I'm a firm believer in that they're not transformers if you don't transform them, so I have intentions on most. That said, I do still have some Animated figures that I got late after the line had finished so never got around to them.

PotP leader Op I opened on the day I got him. I think.
Transmetal Op must be my longest because I don't have any sealed G1. From BW onwards though I have unopened toys from most lines. Armada Hoist is one, Energon Op (Takara one so I've no idea if he's even in the box), Energon Megs. Jetfire. Omega. MP10 I never got as far as opening. Loads of the MP cars actually. Oh, Binaltech. Few of them. There are box loads in the loft all waiting. Newer lines, tons of. Most of T30 for example. Only CW combiners open are Menasor and Abominus. The Aerialbots I'm going to sell to use the money for the Takara reissue because they're all sealed. The UW boxes are so nice.

From which even I can tell my collecting is about owning and hoarding, not actually playing. Which is kinda sad and suggests I shouldn't be buying the things.

Toys you bought INTENDING to keep forever in their packaging are indeed different and don't count. So you're not getting out of it that way, Pins! I have a Masterpiece Prowl MISB which I plan to keep FOREVER. Although, you can't actually see him in his box, so, errr, not sure what I'm doing there really...

In all seriousness, each to their own, my Cyber-darling. You're an 'Owner' whereas I'm a 'Player' (actually, 'Poser' is more accurate). Feed The Beast, I say. Although I do think hoarding can be a problematic thing to cross into.

I got a Zoids Slitherzoid one Christmas, I cant remember which, but Christmas 92 at the latest. I dont know if it was a case of my Mum finding somewhere selling old stock or if she had hid them one year and forgotten about them. She has form for either and its quite possible its a combination of both. Either way I was still a fan of Zoids and quite excited about it, but then got it in to my head how rare an unbuilt Zoid must be and never go around to building it. A few years later I got a Zoids 2 Sitherzoid which I also didnt build. Ive got a feeling I also have a 2001-2004 version too. I also have the 2002 Hasbro Kraak which I just never got around to opening.
As for Transformers I just scrape in with unopened G1 thanks to Zap. Which I bought in December 1995/January 1996 (or a very slight possibility of 12 months later) from my local toyshop that was closing. I also picked up a bunch of G2 (and possibly another G1 toy now that I think about it. Maybe an aqua speeder or similar) This was also when I picked up Zoids 2 slither. It wasn't my intention not to open most of them, but I think I liked the idea of still having toys from my favourite toyshop to open one day.
I picked up a rock bubble packaged Rattrap in 1996, which is still unopened, but I never had any intentions of opening it, I just liked the original style of Beast Wars packaging. I also never opened the MCBeast Manta Ray I won in a TMUK competition.
After that theres assorted toys from most lines that havent been opened. Though usually its ones Ive picked up cheap and not been that bothered about and maybe thought I'd sell on and haven't or things picked up for customs that never happened.

Just remembered I have some Binaltech MISB too, but I think they're remoulds... Eg Streak. I picked up a rock bubble packaged Rattrap in 1996, which is still unopened, but I never had any intentions of opening it, I just liked the original style of Beast Wars packaging. Rock bubble was so much nicer than the oval bubbles.

A bubble that holds the toy on the card that's got edges to it and not round like most BW card bubbles

If we are including model kits, and it seems we are given that Zoids have entered the conversation, I have had Bandai's transformable VF-31S Siegrfried kit sitting in my wardrobe for about 18 months. Originally I intended to assemble it once I moved into a permanent home. Then I got sidetracked by the warm summer weather, and by some Gunpla...
I'm hoping to make a start on it over the dark winter evenings, and get it assembled so it can join my motley collection of Variable Fighters.

Pretty sure this year was the 10th anniversary of my owning a sealed Encore Metroplex. I wanted him so badly as a kid, and I was so excited when the reissue was announced, and then... well, it never felt like the right moment...
Also that Dragstrip repaint of Mirage, I think that was late 2008 and I haven’t opened that either. The packaging is so nice!

I think... I think.... only just formulating this realisation...
Give me a sec'...
Yes. I think, I'd only keep a toy MISB/MOSC if I had another one out. Keep it either as an emergency spare or to keep forevs.

Hmmm. Most toys I open the day that I get them. Although of late I've also been trying to eke them out a bit, to prevent me from giving into the urge to just buy more. So for example after TFNation this year I think it was a week or so before everything was open, since I played with one a day. Or something like that. But usually it's as soon as possible.
The only exception to this was I think Fortress Maximus in 2016, who I picked up at TFN that year but didn't open 'til the November because Jo wanted to open it with me, and wasn't back in the UK until then. So yeah, that was an exceptional reason.

I've got a Takara Prime Vehicon still unopened. And the white Botcon pair that came from that mould. I got excited by them because they looked like Cylons.

Yeah, didn't have space to open and build them at the time. Put them in the loft where they remain at this moment in time.
