It involves cut paper and adhesive, so it's not origami, which uses only folding.
It looks great. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished article. Have a quick look around the website and you will also find Sunbow style Ratchet, Ironhide and Soundwave.

I knew it wasn't really origami I was just taking the piss. I used to be a big fan of origami at school so I should know.

"A big fan" - that's about the extent of my origami skills. Those and paper aeroplanes.
I was in uni with someone who would spend lectures making miniature frogs and swans.

I used to be able to make dozens of different origami models without the need to look in a book when I was at school. These days I can make about three different basic models and thats it.

A wonderful tradition - and I believe there was Japanese girl dieing of Lukiemia who endeavored to do this, with the help of her classmates - sadly she died anyways.... but the story has stuck with me and is a very moving one.

if you make 1000 cranes you please the gods....or get good luck or something good That's the general gist of it - I believe that the tradition holds that if you fold 1000 perfect origama cranes you are granted a boon (essentially it is a method of petitioning for a particular wish to be made true - at least, that was how it was explained to me.) Also - paper bumblebee, an impressive feat of craftsmanship. Karl

Wasn't that in an episode of Heroes? They may have made mention of it - after all they have a couple of Japanese characters and it is a reasonably common superstition so there was always a chance of it coming up The only place I've seen it mentioned in recent media was "Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex 2nd Gig" from back in 2002 or thereabouts though, were it became both a minor plot point in one episode and the only hint to the actual identity of one of the characters.
