"Details have significance"
Says the boss. Which is quite right. We aren't going to be told something unless it's relevant and useful to know.
We were told initially:
"first order of business, get up and get dressed and then to get out of this room."
We know we would die if we didn't wear the clothes, so we're being told there we had to put them on. Equally, we're being told we need to exit the room. There doesn't seem to be a way through the door and the window is an easy option, so it seems as though we're supposed to go out of the window. Once outside the window, we're told:
"You look back to the window, it's a little higher than you thought it would be, but no problem - You're at least out of the room now."
Which suggests that it was the right move to make and that we aren't able to go back that way. This is also evidenced by:
"You about face, prop a foot on one of the pipes and try to use it to hike yourself high enough to pull yourself back into the window. Alas, the pipe does not provide a steady footing and you slip backwards." and also that we can't unshackle ourselves yet without dying by dog attack, which means we can't use the bed as a trampoline to reach the window.
So that leaves us with the courtyard:
"A few feet away in the dirt an object glints in the moonlight, to the right the main entrance door and further on a crowbar is propped against the wall. Horizontal outlet pipes jut out of the wall under the window."
Everything we've tried there so far has resulted in death. We can't get through the door, pick up the crowbar or do anything with the dogs that doesn't result in death. The only thing we've managed to do is get the key to the shackles. But we can't use it. The other object of note is the bike:
"from this better angle you can see it's got 2 long bars coming from the front and some kind of front spoiler on the end."
"There are two handles raised on vertical poles from a central console and two foot rests that act as pedals."
Those two descriptions and the speed it goes make it sound like the speeder bikes from Return of the Jedi. Which means the two long bars should be blasters.
From all of the above the only thing I can think of is that we're supposed to be in the courtyard as the game has directed us that way, we can't go back and we can't fight the dogs. So we need to see if the speeder bike does have guns and use them.
Other events without resolution so far:
The noises outside the room: "As whatever is outside approaches the door, not only is there a shuffle but you also hear something else - a whirring of some kind, servos?" "rather anticlimactically, the noises come close to the door, but move past further away in the opposite direction from where it came."
The wording on the uniform: "You notice the letters BUNCE across the back and ARMED across the left breast."
The outlet pipes, which have been mentioned a lot and must do something: "Horizontal outlet pipes jut out of the wall under the window."

Did we examine the pipes? I have been thinking liquids, but maybe there's a gas coming out of them that could be ignited by the bike's engine.

CLIMB out window EXAMINE shiny object GET key MOUNT bike EXAMINE protruding bars FIND fire button It's a little high, but by putting camp bed on the window ledge so it doesn't obstruct you, you manage to hike yourself up and get your first leg over. From there it's a simple case of dropping down to the other side.
Location Discovered: Remote courtyard (+1 points) New location: Remote courtyard (+3 points)
You look back to the window, it's a little higher than you thought it would be, but no problem - You're at least out of the room now.
It doesn't take long though for growls and snarls to start bearing down on you. 3 or 4 creatures, certainly dog like in appearance, but a lot larger. Red eyes, hunched backs, large claws and teeth, from their head two devil like horns and dark grey furless skin. Their powerful legs propelling them forwards in large bounds rather than a run.
You kneel down, brush the dirt from an item that catches your eye on the ground, looks like a small key! You grab it and dash for the vehicle.
Inventory Item Added: Small key (+1 point)
You jump in the driving seat and examine its front end. In looking in detail at the vehicle, it certainly starts to seem familiar to you for some reason! The front bars sadly are not weapons, just mounts for the front spoiler. In checking them though you do notice that there does at least appear to be some kind of blaster cannon underneath the front nose of the main fuselage.
The creatures are on you in a flash, given their speed you're surprised that you even had time to examine the vehicle after getting to it. You put up a valiant fight, but there's no way you can win this one.

These are guard dogs and we're wearing a guard's uniform. Why are they attacking us? Does the armed on the back mean we should be carrying a gun or that the suit itself is armed?
EXAMINE uniform
Have we done that? We haven't tried talking to the dogs either.

The uniform comprises of a loose fitting green short sleeve shirt and cargo style trousers. Although both have pockets they are sadly empty.
The letters you saw on the left breast when the clothes were crumpled are oddly spaced and weathered. AR MED on the front. Wearing the shirt, you can't tell any more about the letters on the back.

What would be funny is if you write this up later as a limited-options choose-your-own-adventure book where the reader is given all the options we've tried and no others. It would blow their minds. "You're asking me to choose between what and what???"

Ok, so not armed, more ar? Med. Green uniform - medical. The bunce on the back is probably then faded 'ambulance', so we're an amnesiac Shockprowl? Ark Med perhaps?
That's alright then, he should know what to do.
*Looks at shockers*

HAMMER on door and DO Combat Yodel until captor comes to investigate commotion. HIDE behind door. HIT captor with shelf. You bang on the door and yell at all your might. The noises from outside the door come closer. As whatever is outside approaches the door, not only is there a shuffle but you also hear something else - a whirring of some kind, servos?
Through the door you hear a muffled semi-robotic voice, almost... voices, but at the same time definitely just one?
'POSSIBLE THREAT DETECTED... INVESTIGATING...'
The shuffling comes close, you can hear it attempt to gain entry through the door. The handle and door shakes, but the lock holds. Its efforts, however insistent they may have been, are short lived.
'POSSIBLE THREAT CONTAINED...'
The shuffling continues back away from the door to where it had come from, presumable on to the task it was doing prior to your impressive yodel.
Whilst this is going on, you prepare yourself to attack whomever comes through the door. You hold a shelf up high, but in doing so, due to your shackled hand, you accidentally hit yourself in the head. Ouch. This does at least seem to have jogged something in your brain. You have a recollection of a job you perhaps once had, helping people in distress?! Is your memory finally starting to return?

That's alright then, he should know what to do. *Looks at shockers* ar med = paramedic. came to me driving to work. So is the uniform ours? If so, what impact can that have on dealing with the dogs? Shockprowl! would a trained paramedic know how to take down a pack of rabid dogs without any equipment? We could try and lie the shelf across the outlet pipes to make a platform to stand on above the dogs. We need to pacify, kill or repel them somehow. That's the direction we need to go here, the dogs need a solution directly, not a way to escape them as there isn't one.

Okay, so if what is outside the door can't get in and we can't get out, that seems like a no go. That also confirms the noises outside are robotic guards of some sort. So in terms of our unsolved mysteries, we're down to the outlet pipes under the window. We know any action we've performed in the courtyard except getting the key has resulted in death, but that the bike does have a weapon.
LOOK outside (so we register the pipes) EXAMINE pipes

The robot's a bit thick if it thinks we're contained because the door is locked, when we have an open window.
It's as illogical as removing most but not all of our clothes and leaving them where we can easily put them back on again... and putting us somewhere the dogs can't get us but where we are very likely to unwittingly jump down to the dogs from.
If you want us dead, leave us where the dogs can get us! If you want us contained/alive, lock the window! If you want us clothed, leave our clothes on! If you want us naked, don't leave our clothes in the room.
WHO ARE THESE CRAZY PEOPLE???

CREATE platform so we can get to safety when dogs attack.
DO Combat Yodel outside building so that guard robot realises we're outside and threat is not contained.
WATCH dogs dismember guard robot.
WAIT until dogs have wandered off and ENTER building through door left open by guard robot.

LOOK outside (so we register the pipes) EXAMINE pipes Looking out of the window the first thing that strikes you is the colour of the night sky. Not a deep dark blue as expected, but a purple through orange haze. You look to the sky and see the moon... A comforting site after whatever it was that you've been through. You look around the sky and what you see is something that you really weren't expecting... a second moon. This must be Earth, right?
You look around to the horizon, there's a glow in the distance and you can make out the faint outline of what you guess is a city. Between that and you though... Not a lot. It's not quite a desert, but certainly an inhospitable environment to be sure. To the left of the window you see some kind of vehicle. It's roughly motor bike in shape, but strangely has no wheels, just flat panels and some sort of vent system. To the right you can see some kind of main entrance to whatever building you're in. Further around the wall, near the door there's something that you'd assess at this distance is a crowbar. A few feet from the window on the ground something glints in the moons' light on the floor.
Location Discovered: Remote courtyard (+1 point)
You hike yourself up to peer over the edge of the window. Underneath are horizontal outlet pipes. Taking a good look, you observe there's not much to them really. Don't seem to have had any user in a long time, they're dry and nothing discernible coming out of them. Despite their apparent lack of use, they seem in good condition.
You appear to have caught something's attention. Shapes in the distance start moving...

So the robot isn't aware the window is open then, which suggests someone is trying to help us escape and maybe left us the clothes. But that doesn't explain why they left us locked to the bed. Maybe they didn't have the key. They didn't wake us up because they couldn't? we came round with a headache, so we were unconscious. Maybe all those questions are part of a much bigger picture, after all we're only up to knowing how to get eight points out of 250. Ugh. I don't know. I can't remember now what we've tried and what we haven't. I'm reluctant to try HELP as a command because I don't want to give in, but I can't see where we go now.

I'm not sure we start in a cell to be honest, it sounds more like a converted broom cupboard. Why has it got scratch marks on the walls? Stomski said he was thinking of drawing pictures. What have we missed we needed to see? Will the shelf reach something out of the window?

We could wait and see what the dogs do when they arrive and we're still in the room.
We could try running around the building, see how far we get.
We could try shouting down the pipes, or bung them up, or something.
We could go back to sleep and see what has changed when we wake up again.
Have we tried ramming either of the doors with the shelf?

We could indeed try any of those. I reckon the dogs won't come unless we're outside and I think breaking open the outside door won't save us from the dogs because they'll just follow us through it. We could try to shoot the door with the blaster on the bike.
It just feels to me like we've missed something else that's a cleaner solution than everything we've done so far. This is only the beginning of the game, it should be something simple. Stomski said the solution to this puzzle isn't illogical or unreasonable, so we're not in HHGTTG territory, but I can't think what we haven't done.

What do we see when we stick our head out and look upwards? Can we climb the building? Martin Worth a go. I was hoping using the outlet pipes to climb up to the window again would indicate whether we could do that, but we just fell off them trying to use them.

TALK to bike REMOVE restraining bolt from bike You shout a greeting out of the window at the bike thing...
'Bah-weep-Graaaaagnah wheep ni ni bong'
It doesn't respond.
The bike doesn't have a restraining bolt for you to remove, you'd have surely learnt as much that time you crashed it into a wall. Besides which, even if it did, it's out of reach.

I have an idea
When we had no clothes on, we almost INSTANTLY died from the cold. This means that the weather on this world must be bitter, arctic-like conditions.
Therefore we just need use the planks to bang on the window so the guard dogs stay outside barking at us. They too will instantly die from the cold and then we can escape.
USE planks to MAKE NOISE and wait for dogs to die from the hypothermia which killed us earlier.
