I can see why the leaker thought it was black. It either needs to be black, or lighter grey. That's not a very attractive shade.

Personally, I'd consider the proposed Powerdasher from Brunt to be the zaniest item, not dark grey shockwave.

Easy miss. Dear me, Hasbro what *are* you doing with this line? You had the right idea, but the execution is awful.

Oh okay. I looked up Galactic Man, and this is how he was colored. I genuinely thought he was a lighter shade.

Shackwave: aka Galactic Man is this color dark grey. I was confused because I mistakenly remembered him being a medium grey.

The black version of Shockwave was also sold as Astro Magnum, which is the version/name I am familiar with. So Shackwave, Galactic Man and Astro Magnum are the same thing. -Ralph

I'm really not sure about Galactic Man Shockwave.
It's not a redeco that's got prior legs to it, like Jazz's Ricochet, there's no real fictional use for it and I think the number of fans who were asking for one is small. Worse still, it's a bit plain. Those colours are not going to sell many units to people just looking at it for the first time and, given that it's a larger toy, people are less likely to take a risk.
(Repaints - people are more likely to shell out for mad off the wall decos on cheaper price toys. Larger toys need some convincing)
If Hasbro wanted to risk a Siege Leader repaint then surely Delta Magnus would have been a better bet all round?

Easy miss. Dear me, Hasbro what *are* you doing with this line? You had the right idea, but the execution is awful. Yes.... Swoop & Ricochet: easy repaints, people wanted a red Swoop, Ricochet has his fans. Smokescreen: easy repaint again, in demand, and probably only shunted to Selects because there's been a fair few Generations Smokescreens and too many deluxe Siege Autobots. Lancer: completes Oritha. Mad colours but that was to be expected. Redwing: Strike Plane fans will buy any new colours. Megatron: a bit plain, a deco few were looking for chosen over two that people did want (G2 Green & G2 Purple) Shockwave: see above. The top 4 are the only ones I've bought

Animated Shockwave colours might have worked better, and they're not too far removed from this.
He looks like he's having a little dance in the promo picture!

If Hasbro wanted to risk a Siege Leader repaint then surely Delta Magnus would have been a better bet all round? I reckon they're looking at returns on the moulds. Magnus is linked with Galaxy Prime, but Shockwave is a one off that probably won't get reused in the main line. So they've pumped it out in this one just as a way of recouping cash. I think we already knew, but these figures make it pretty clear that Select is repaint or repaint+the other head that would have been on the original sprues - nothing more than that. The weird thing about it, and I've said it before, is that when FubPub did exactly this, they made far more interesting choices about the characters to use. Select as a collector aimed line is really just a place for misfits that don't fit anywhere else. Granted that means we have Smokescreen and Lancer, two necessary figures that might have been seen as a bridge too far for the retail line in terms of overuse of the same moulds, but the rest of this could have been so much more interesting - a G2 Green Megatron being the big example.

For many UK fans such as myself black Shockwave was the only Shockwave toy we could get prior to the AM version! So in my mind Shockwave is black/grey as that is what I remember from childhood. For me, this is the first instant buy from the Select series. As soon as orders open!!! -Ralph

The top 4 are the only ones I've bought Swoop I was very excited about getting a red one, but then heard the QC issues and haven't bothered. Ricochet looked great, but again, QC put me off. Smokescreen and Lancer are definite buys to complete sets. Redwing, maybe if we get Sun and Acid Storm to make a 'kind of' Cybertronian Tetrajet squad, but alone he's redundant to me. Megatron, on your bike, Shockwave, same. I had a Shockwave KO in the distant past, I'm sure it was purple but I don't really remember now, or where it came from, but I've no interest in buying a grey one.

Yeah, the purple ones there though have changes to them that make them distinct. The one I had was definitely just a pure Shockwave. It must have been Astro Magnum and my head just doesn't remember it was grey. It bit the dust because it wasn't a proper TF and I treated it pretty badly as a consequence. It was only Omegatron of the non-TF TFs I had that I tried to keep tip-tip.

I am very pleased to hear that someone wants this - and I mean this geuninely, given the general apathy surrounding the release. From myself also.
Whilst I initially found the reveal of Galactic Man quite amusing, I quickly realised that it held no actual interest for me. Certainly it's not different enough to justify me owning two of the same mold. So... I won't.
The thing is, though, much as I've been trying to think about what it could have been, with maybe a different head and hand mold, I keep drawing a blank. Except of course for an IDW Senator Shockwave, but I'm fairly certain that IDW 1.0 is now dead to Hasbro, as they focus on the new comic and lines (G1 Sunbow will, of course, never die) - which is a shame, since some garish repaint would've been very tempting, but there you are. So given that I can't come up with anything better... I guess they can have this one.
