I think it's just the standard Strike Plane wing, only not flipped and swung back. The prototype Blackout is definitely Starscream tfwiki.net/wiki/Blackout_(G2)

Transmutate is interesting - since the Selects line is mold reuses, I wonder who they're going to be a re-use of? It could just be an unimaginative repaint of one of the cars, for no reason other than that's what they've got to work with. But i do wonder if maybe they'll do something interesting and make Transmutate out of a mis-mash of Weaponiser or Fossiliser parts - or maybe both? Of course, a mix of both of those things wouldn't give the figure anything interestign to transform into, so maybe it could be enough parts to build almost two figures, so we get two alt-modes, and also finally end up with the Transformers equivalent of Modulok..? The popular theory is she's a Paleotrex retool Exactly as boring as I was expecting. Although at least she's not a Sideswipe repaint. Which I still wouldn't be surprised if they did. Because, you know, why not..?

Wait. It's not even been announced, yet some stores opened orders early and were able to honour the order?
2021 is going to madness again, isn't it?

I have never understood why they make choices like that. I mean it's one thing if it's a compromise for some critical color for the robot mode, but this isn't that. They did this with the CW Dead End mold, too.

He's nice, but do we really need five, six of the same Lambo?
Strike Planes we don't even question, but... I dunno, this is hitting the wrong buttons for me. Maybe I'm just tired.

What hits wrong for me is if the retool rumors are true. We'll have a complete set, but most will be off.

If we were dealing with the datsun cars I'd agree because the siege and ER moulds were so different, but I cant the lambos in robot mode looking any different from the Siege ones without looking inferior. Which would be an odd choice for Hasbro. Car mode might be more of a change but even then I doubt it will be radical.

Ya know, one of the worst effects of more than half of all TFs now being exclusives, is that exclusives mean nothing any more. There's no longer anything special about them.
You may have jumped through hoops to get exclusives before, but in the end, you had something unique on your shelf. Now it's just the same effort to get what would otherwise be the normal line.

I don't see Selects as an exclusive, it's something that's not generally available in stores but everyone online has it: it's widely available through multiple retailers there.
Since Generations in the UK is effectively Smyths only at bricks and mortar, with an occasional dalliance from the Entertainer and a Toymaster if you have one, Selects is available in more locations than most stuff

Selects often sells out in minutes though. It's really only a line I could collect if I was online 24/7 and always have spare cash and was too stressful to try and get. Therefore, I stopped.
Generations I can usually buy when I have time/inclination/spare cash. Infinitely easier for me to acquire.
I've completely tuned out from Selects now. Too difficult to buy.

I find with collecting, particularly when collecting something with such an expansive range, that setting a goal or limit reduces stressful collecting.
In my case, I only want to collect the figures seen in the original 4 G1 Seasons. This means I don't care much for the Selects and Exclusives, but doesn't stop me picking one up if the opportunity arises.

What is killing Selects for me is the random nature of the figures. Phil did that list that showed there are half a dozen different themes being drawn on, so none are being done in a way comprehensive enough to make it appealing to collect them. Diaclone repaints seem to be the most dominant now, there are enough to make them a desirable set, and of course some diversity keeps it fresh, but it's so fragmented.
Infact thinking about it, Selects has almost no remoulding, so things like Diaclone repaints are an easy choice for it. Hasbro lack the imagination that Fun Pub's repaints had. The groups and themes they put together were fun. What Hasbro are doing is too by the numbers. If they budgeted a new head for each mould they could get a wider variety of characters, like how good Rotorstorm was. But one Turbomaster on his own is kinda pointless.

But Rotorstorm isn't just one Turbomaster. He's now, like fellow new head Hubcap, An Other Wrecker, and that means they'll sell a tad more. Makes you wonder why Ironfist from Hound never happened, really.

Folk showed Selects SG Prime and SG Ratchet on the zoom call and now I must have them at some future more financially secure time! The colours on the Ratchet in particular looked very nice with a minty green.

I got mine today and Optimus just isn't right. I make no secret of my general disinterest in SG, but the original Optimus was gorgeous. I loved it. I sold mine a long time ago, so I can't compare them together, but this one feels like a reproduction deco achieved by looking at pictures, instead of the toy? I dunno...it just feels slightly off in a way that the SG RtS Laserrod Optimus didn't.
Also, the broken window without any other weathering or battle damage feels kinda silly (not the good kind)
