There is a gun against your head... or, less violently but no less heart wrenchingly, HasTak have announced the cancellation of one of those lines. Other lines continue to exist, but only ONE of the MAIN COLLECTOR LINES will continue...

Generations.
The escalating price of MPs aside, my favourite Transformers are the ones you can pick up and fiddle with and transform back and forth easily. Though there are exceptions to this rule both ways - I love MP Hot Rod for transforming so nicely, and for all that it's a very pretty mould I find the RTS Jazz toy frustrating to transform.

I too have voted Generations.
I love the.... idea of Masterpiece...
But they just don't deliver anymore. Now, Generations doesn't deliver either. BUT THEY'RE MUCH CHEAPER! And have the critical 'fiddle factor'...

G1 MPs have gotten really bad. Very minimalist designs, no detailing, and more often than not, some terrible engineering choices. And have become ridiculously overprised for what you get.
If these were the only TF product, I wouldn't collect Transformers anymore.
The Movie and BW MPs fair quite a bit better, and are actually worthy of the name.
However, they're also absurdly expensive.
I would rather Generations.

Too many releases in Generations for me to keep up. Once you've seen wave 1, feels like there's no excitement as to what's to come due to prolific remolds.
MP has too many repaints and exploitative selling techniques for them and the recent direction of the design has veered far from the original line ethos.
So, sausages is the only option I can choose.

But yes, my choice would be Generations. As has already been said, even putting the current design choices aside (for the G1 line, that is - Beast Wars continues to seem to be good) the MP line is too expensive, and not nearly as much to fiddle with. Generations is cheaper, offers much more choice, and is much more fun to play with - and you can do so without fear of a slight mistake in play being suddenly expensive.

The only problem I have with Hot Rod, and to be fair it's not a trivial problem, is the stupid engineering decision that led to him not being able to roll on all four wheels. How did they let that one through?!? Otherwise he has one of my favourite transformations of any Transformer, ever! Ironhide from the same period also has a pretty clever transformation but it's a bit too fiddly. Shockwave's is quite nice too, but he's let down by his colour scheme and the recolour is over-priced. Though I'd accept the first run's shade of purple if he had an orange chest and cannon... |

Waaaay too expensive for me, waaaaay too complicated and waaaay too many flaps. Oddly enough, Titans Return Fastlane is my MVP figure at the moment despite being, well, clearly crap. |

I prefer Masterpieces - many of these have made any Generations (past and upcoming) obsolete because they are definitive versions - correct vehicle mode etc.
But the recent direction (sunbow), prices and slow releases/missing characters is a big let down. Also, there are more fans that enjoy & collect the Generations that me wishing for them to be cancelled over Masterpiece would be a bit selfish so I'll vote Generations.
Also, if the Takara MP stopped, we'd still have all those lovely third party ones that tend to do a better job of getting the quality and characters we want anyway.

Couple of years ago I'd have said Masterpiece, but I think because Generations has been so strong since Combiner Wars and Masterpiece can't decide on its identity that it would have to be Generations. I can't see where MP is going at the moment,
Besides. I can cheat this poll; for the foreseeable future all my MP figures are coming from Fans Toys anyway.
