Dezzeh living the dream. High quality desirable Transformers and a blog to write about them on. This is what it's all about. A purpose, a direction. I need to find one. Good stuff, Dezz. Now get yer Saber out.

I’m quite enjoying it aye! Feeling a passion for the hobby (and other toy lines) that I’ve not had in years. And my saber is always out sir!

Should that be waning in the second sentence?

I've got the original release of that one still. I recall it being a right bastard to combine. The way the arms have to lie across the shoulders sticks in my mind.

Crikey that looks good.
So it's a robot that fits inside a pretender shell, which in turn fits inside a vehicle? I didn't realise the Russian Doll concept had got to three levels with these toys.

Now I think about this, the TF line was so divided at that point. The Pretenders don't look like the same toy range as the Micromasters.
Mind you I suppose you could say the same in 86 when the Movie stuff was on sale with the Special Teams.

Does anyone know if the pretender combiners were Woolworths exclusive? That’s the only store I ever saw any at all in back then.

I wonder if they were trying to appeal to different demographics.

It’s hard to tell, obviously the pretender classics would appeal to the slightly older fan who grew up with the 84 toys. I guess Micromasters really were designed to take out the Micro Machines market (failed, badly).

It never occured to me it was literally two seperate toy lines stuck together at that point!
