Got a lift to church, which was nice given the heavy rain. Had a steak, jacket potato, pint of Guinness and chocolate fudge cake mountain for lunch at my local pub which then made all right with the world. It also made me subsequently doze off listening to a spot of Wagner and the soundtrack to Michael Bay's 'The Rock'.
Will watch Time Team on C4 at 4.45 and then start reading a newly acquired book entitled 'Legends of Ancient Rome'.
Will go and observe peregrines tomorrow if not chucking down with rain. Hmm. Forecast says rain. Need a plan B.

It's been an all action weekend for me - spent Saturday morning putting the finishing touches to the paintwork in the kitchen, then spent the afternoon and early evening doing a major spring clean on two-thirds of the house. Finally grabbed myself some dinner at about half-seven.
Got up this morning and got the masonry paint out and repainted the window sills and the window and door surrounds outside. By the time I was done with that (with a break for a quick lunch and a wander into town to pick up some more paint) it was not far of four o'clock in the afternoon. So, given how nice the weather is I headed out for a walk up the canal for an hour or so. Came back for a nice dinner (steak pie, potatos, Brocolli and carrots - with a choc-ice to round it off), whilst watching a couple of episodes of "Cowboy Beebop".
It's been a productive couple of days, but I feel like I could do with a weekend now to get some rest in......

The most productive thing I've done today is make a nice big pile of comic trades I would like to re-read or that I haven't read all of on account of being busy with Uni. It's a mighty sight to behold. Some Punisher this evening, I think. Then maybe some Steve Ditko Amazing Fantasy gubbins. Possibly even a cheeky bit of The Savage Sword of Conan.

I break the silence by posting in honour of William McGonagall, widely considered the worst poet in the world (read his poetry here), and whose works have just been auctioned for an extortionate sum, but then, most people haven't seen the Hub during Rhyming Week, have they? If were going to post poems how about this classic one by Roger McGough. I remember reading it at school and I still find it humourous today. www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-lesson/

Heh. Poor taste considering some classroom shootings that have occurred in more recent years, but no doubt intended as harmless fun at the time. The headteacher tossing in a grenade takes it sufficiently out of the real world to allow enjoyment without too much guilty feeling. But I trust you're not a teacher... Martin

But I trust you're not a teacher... Not likely - I'm not clever enough to be one of those!
