Lets make this quite clear: I asked about this head and nobody replied: (Who'dya think he's gonna do next? I think Huffer. But now I've said Huffee he'll do Gears to make me look like an asshole...) Windcharger. He's only got two heads. Gears had three at one point, I think. Or was it Sideswipe who had the mirrored Cobra Commander-style head? It'll be one of the three remaining Minibots, Cliffjumper having the same head. Gears Mirrored Cobra Commander head? So from now on if you want another head other than comic or animation make me aware of it and bring a picture to my attention! Thank you! |

Also, you seem to have shown Windcharger results again. Fixed. Between taking the screenshot, cropping and uploading it, finding the file in Flickr and grabbing the correct link something went wrong in Phil's head and I forgot the middle bits |

Definitely not the 'And There Shall Come a Leader' one. The look works for a human wearing armour, or for a robot built by or inspired by humans, but it doesn't work for a pre-Earth alien machine. It's just too humanoid.
I think Gears has two faces, his toy face which he had on Cybertron, and the holographic human face that he showed Spider-Man.
Aesthetically I prefer the alien-looking toy form, so I'm voting for that.

Well this one is actually more difficult than normal. And not just because of the participants. Although mostly...
The fact that Gears ends up having three distinct faces means that I don't have one over-riding "default" image of him in my head. There's just too much choice!
What I'd really like to know is how they came to give him such an unrepresentative head. Although I suspect it will have been for reasons like "the cleaner moved the reference files around"...

You know - I thought I'd vote comic head when this came around, but that's really just because I prefer the Marvel version of him. If he had the white head in the comics and red in the cartoon, then I'd be voting white. So I'd be going on personality rather than design.
So I'm going with toy head (ie face with a windscreen) because that is the most unique and I wish it were used more.
I still wish there was a red helmet option for Masterpiece Ratchet though.

But in this case, no, it's got to be the toy head. It just looks so alien. Which is fitting considering this is, you know, an alien robot.
A true Masterpiece Ratchet would be a version of that Ratchet from issue #1 that's been posted above. Alas, Takara are too big a bunch of cowards to do it. And only I would buy it. But that's not the point! It's them, they're the cowards!
