Yeah, pros and cons really re insurance. I suppose it depends what kind of collection you have. My collections of Classics, G1ick A,E & C and Alternators/MPs is replacable with cash, pretty much. But huge G1 collections would be far more difficult to replace.

If you're like me and only have a (wife enforced) limited display area, what you got on display at the mo?
Currently I've got my MP/Alt collection out, mainly 'cos they're too large and delicate to store anywhere! Also, I consider this my 'main' collection. The others, as much as I love them all, are for FIGHTING!!!
Currently Display: MP Optimus Prime BT Prowl from Alert convert Alt Jazz with stickers Alt Wheeljack with stickers BT Sunstreaker Alt Sideswipe Alt Skids MP Megatron Movie Booster- MP Laserbeak (sat on Megatron's shoulder!) MP Starscream G1 Alt Battle Ravage
They're currently in a pose suggesting they're working together for some common purpose. They're all looking the same way with several pointing they're weapons. Mrs Shockprowl often comes home and comments that they're possitions have changed. They're displayed in a well lit alcove in our lounge. Not too much room for a large battle scene, unfortunately. That will change when we finally finish our loft-room renovations!
I also occassionally get away with putting other items on the bookcase we have in the lounge, but usually only for the evening. They're away by morning (mainly 'cos Piglet likes to 'look' at them!). Popular ones at the mo are some of my Beast Wars figs, partic the larger ones such as Magnaboss (Grrr!), Tripredacus, Primal, Megatron and Rampage. And recently I've been going through a Classics Vs Beast Wars phase, so the likes of Classics Op and friends has squared off against a select group of Beast Wars Predacons!

My display is rather random, Perhaps I am not typical of the fandom. Currently I am fiddling with the Insecticons, A lot more fun than tampons. Probably, Maybe.

Lovely, intruiging displays there gentlemen! Gav, yours is such a mish-match, in a good way! And an impressively large display there Karlos!
And we all know 'bout Kosh's collection... (*feels himself turning green again*)
Wish I'd more room to display. I'd prob have a G1 shelf, Alt/MP shelf, 'New' G1 shelf (classics etc), Prowl shelf, Seekers shelf, 6" Titanium shelf, and a Beast Wars shelf! Prob also need a shelf for my Clone Troopers and my Marvel Showdown figs! Suffice to say Mrs Shockprowl isn't keen on my future displaying plans!
This has given me an idea for another thread...

Your Ultimate Display
Let's say, what, 10 - 20 toys? TF, or otherwise. What would be your display of displays?! Your Ultimate collection! Not just of the toys you own, but imagioning you had all the toys you want. A display fit for Gods! A display that tells us Who You Are!
Armada Unicron Masterpiece Shockwave Masterpiece Infiltration Style Megatron Masterpiece Optimus Prime
BT convert Prowl (sorry Nick) Classics Jazz Action Master Wheeljack Classics Ratchet
Masterpiece Thundercracker Armada Starscream Robot Masters Skywarp
Beast Wars Magnaboss Beast Wars Magmatron Beast Wars transmetal 2 Ravage (tripred' agent)
G1 Skids Completed G1 Predaking G1 Abominus G1 (reissue) Soundwave w/Laserbeak 6" Titanium War Within Megatron and dare I say it... 6" Titanium Prowl!
I've tried not to get too silly with regards to the figs that don't exist, but I'm ever the optomist. I've tried to get a fig in there a) from all my favourate lines and b) all my favourate characters. Tricky! Ammendments maybe made!

By my count you've got four non-existent figures on there, Shockprowl. Going to get the craft knife and the drill out again, are we?
Well, if we're counting chaps that don't exist my ultimate display would cover the original Wreckers and Mayhem Attack Squad. I painted Rack'n'Ruin figures for Scotcon 2005 (or was it '04?) so all I'm really waiting for is Impactor.

Let's say, what, 10 - 20 toys? TF, or otherwise. What would be your display of displays?! Ten to Twenty toys, both Transformer and otherwise to make a definitive display. Hmmm.. Having thought about it, I wouldn't really be on topic enough for this section of the forum. My list would probably be only around a third Transformers, with the rest neatly divided between Mospeada, Macross, Patlabor... and of course the Tachikoma plushy thrown in for good measure. Karl

These pics are a bit out of date, since Omega Supreme and several of the BTs are now gone and replaced with more Brave toys. D'oh. Anyway, this should at least stop Shockprowl from digging his way into Tony's house via the sewers for a while. The Simpsons wallpaper seemed like a good idea when I was 14, but now I kind of regret it. This is the corner of my desk next to the monitor. When it gets out of control it makes it hard to type. Just up and to the left, the Predators, Cyberjets and a bunch of warring movie toys lord it over the Gobot collection. To the right, the movie toys continue to wail on each other as the Turbomasters take pot shots at Skyquake and his pals. This is the top of my chest of drawers. Some of this is away now. This is just next to the desk. It's where the Micromaster combiners hang out, along with a Dalek, a Gobot power suit, and a K'nex chicken. Also, Fraggle Rock which I bought in the States last year and have yet to watch. The next few shots are of a set of wardrobe doors my uncle got for my dad, who went out and got brackets from MFI and, well, I got a massive set of shelves out of the deal. Here is the Ark crew, plus a few friends from eHobby and Brazil. Raiden there is the Diaclone version except for the right arm (which was why I got it so cheap), and the random single Trainbot is probably the only Diaclone repaint I'll ever own on account of their being as common as droppings from a rocking horse. Nemesis crew, along with a few extra jets and Insecticons from G2 and eHobby. Rumble is there- you can just see his arm sticking out behind Frenzy. We had to trim the corner off that shelf so people could safely get in the door, so there isn't a lot of space at that end. These are the three shelves together. Armada/Energon/Cybertron are in the middle, and Beast Wars are at the top. Shocarackt, the only 90s Botcon exclusive I really want (except G2 Breakdown, but whoa, the costliness), is about to be eaten by Takotank. This is the desk by the window. It's a random display that contains the bulk of my Japanese stuff that I paid way too much for to keep in a box. Your eyes do not deceive you- there are indeed two Brownings there. Both are Diaclones because the TF version is waaay too expensive. This is my pre-expansion Brave collection. It's a bit more crowded over there now. Next shelf up is Overlord and the World's Smallest chappies keeping some Kabaya kits company. I think the kits are knockoffs. The WS Dinobots stay in front of the monitor, back in picture 1. I find Overlord makes a great base for the wee guys. Above them the Zone, Battlestars and Micromaster-compatible Brave toys hang out. Those are the Japanese battle patrol in front of Galaxy Shuttle. They have funky colours. At the top the Maximi hang out. The God Fire Convoy sword, like the majority of Grand Max's accessories, are customs. And finally, this is the top of my wardrobe where all the other Micromaster bases hang out with a few Spychangers. Not pictured are the three stacking boxes full of figures I lack the space to display. The whole thing is a sort of 'random overstuffed curiosity shop' to Tony's 'National Gallery' setup, but it makes me happy. -Nick

The sight of Nick's bedroom with all those toys has often made me go weak at the knees. It blew my mind the first time I saw it, and then Nick said: "And there's more in the big three tubs over there." And then I just found a Superion giftset randomly sitting about. My brain then dribbled out of my ears.

I really enjoyed looking through your collection, Nick. There's a lot of stuff I see in there that I hope to add to my own some day, especially some of the Japanese figures. Oh, and the Brave toys look fantastic. BTW, just to let you know that Victory Leo arrived yesterday. The auction pictures really didn't do it justice. It actually is in even better condition than it looked in the pics. He now resides on the top shelf combined with Star Sabre and boy is that one big toy overall. It's also good to know that I can now remove those steel boxers I've been wearing for the past few weeks. They were starting to cramp a bit - Tony

Lovely collection too! Did you know you can get a WST black Prime and trailer? Reprolabels have the Nemesis Prime stickers, I got a set yesterday.

I was a bit miffed after Skids and Tracks got bumped from WST wave 2 in favour of chaps like "anime" Convoy, so I painted mine to look like Diaclone Magnus (Powered Convoy) for a bit of visual difference. Purple Bumblebee and G2 Sideswipe were Scotcon exclusives a few years back, painted by myself.
