But those are real planets! Illegal poll options! I wasn't nominating them for the poll!!! But they are places I might believe you'd genuinely like to visit. Unlike Pluto. Martin Pluto Alpha Base might be a different matter. Or is all this anti Plutoness down to Star Fleet episodes 1 & 5?

Martin I think you'd be hard pressed to find anywhere to stand on either of those two and be able to see anything much. Nah. Pluto and you've got the whole solar system in one view. On this planet you have to wait to see others at certain times of the year. Pluto you can see everything! In one night! Pluto is the sentry post. The gateway to our system.

Pluto is not a fictional planet. -Ralph Well it's not a real one, is it. Therefore it must be fictional. Pluto is a real dwarf planet.

There are ways to get into the solar system that don't go past Pluto. Of course there are, but I'm talking figuratively. Pluto is the doorway in and out of our solar system in many many fictions. It is the gatekeeper. The guardian that separates our solar system from the murky underworld of the Oort cloud. This is true; I have never stood on Phil, although I expect the view from the top is marvelous. But that doesn't change the fact that Phil, Jupiter and Saturn are all perfectly nice real planets. So they aren't valid answers to your question. Nor are they places I would prefer to travel to instead of Pluto.

Okay, okay, I surrender and give you the benefit of the doubt and accept your word that you would rather visit the dark cold lump of Pluto than see the storms of Jupiter or the rings of Saturn or the toys of Phil. Each to his own. So Pluto is only an ineligible nomination on two grounds (being neither fictional nor a fully qualified planet), rather than three. Whew, at least someone's happy. Martin

He used the word planet! So it is a planet! He should know, he's a scientician! You can't argue with that! I'm beginning to think Moff Martin has something against Pluto.

Nominations are closed, and the voting begins. Our blue furry pilot will fly us into space stopping off briefly on Button Moon, the real wannabe-planet Pluto, the forest moon of Endor and the moon inhabited by the Clangers, refuelling at Grand Central Space Station, saying hello to the Autobots and Decepticons on Cybertron (which used to be a planet but has long misplaced the star it's supposed to be orbiting), and then visiting FIVE FICTIONAL PLANETS* somewhere in time and space. Which five fictional planets shall we visit? Martin *to the best of my knowledge
