I did roll along the wall to avoid the water. I have received repair instructions. I will have to climb into the Jeffrey's tube in the ceiling space to enact the plan. Carry out a Level 2 diagnostic. -Ralph

That job app was a bust in the end. Just heard (unofficially so far) that I didn't even make the short list for interview despite being asked to apply. Suspected so at this point.
Despite being an internal only position for an area they have very few people working in they were apparently inundated with applicants with more experience and knowledge than me.
That feels like three weeks and lots of worry wasted when I have other things to chase.

Indeed. Suspect the person who sort me out was very well intentioned herself but alas is only one person of four on the group deciding this.

The day started with getting a row from a police officer for daring to contact them on their work number to give an update on anti-social behaviour problems. They had put a card under my door with that number last time I reported an incident. It even stated to contact them if I had not heard from them in 5 days. I waited 10. I did query this and got the usual call 101 crap (who won't do anything) or it's not a police matter (it is). However, I was told Official Police Letters were going out to all residents today and he would knock on some doors and make sure the door entry code is changed again. This is a Big Step Up from the previous Police responses which consisted of 'Go Away' so we will see if that helps. I very much hope it does. I hope whoever is letting these people in gets a fright from The Police Letter. I doubt it, but you never know!
The day went sideways from there.
Things can only get better!

At least the 101 call was easier this time now I have the magic words of 'pass this to the PCSO team'. Another email off to the landlord. Can't wait to move out in 9 months. I haven't even bothered unpacking a lot of my stuff. It feels pointless. -Ralph

No hope of getting a replacement because the unit is so old, but I saw mentioned that just using an elastic band does the job. Fortunately I had one the right width and length to hand, and hey presto, it now works absolutely fine. This means I can have another go at trying to transfer the Special Teams audio cassette, the one in the batch of TF tape conversions I did that went all wobbly. If I respool the tape it might take some of the tension out of it. If not, I'll try and find another. I wouldn't dare quote this directly in the week 41 thread, but I've managed now to do this successfully. The sacred ladybird box was retrieved: And opened: HiFi hooked up to the PC; problem I've never bothered fixing of recording audio from the line in resolved, and the Special Teams cassette re-transferred to digital audio without the awful wobble of the last one. I did the original transfers in 2004 using software that eventually became Adobe Audition, which now won't install on Windows 10, so I used Audacity instead. The march of time showed there, what was a really fiddly operation to remove the tape hiss back then is now almost a one click job in Audacity, and it's done it better than the old ones too. So I now have a very nice, clean, near CD quality wav file of the Special Teams cassette. I will investigate my other recordings to see what can be improved and make these available to Hubbers in due course!

Well it seems while the cat's away, the mice play with toys.
Been wondering how well Metroplex integrates with the Micromasters, which prompted whipping out some Minibots too. Promptly forgot about the Micromasters. I've never before been able to roll Bumblebee into one of Metroplex's repair bays. Doing this caused a ShockprowlTM nostalgasm so strong I had to have a sit down.

Had me worried though.
